A Mystery Chart!
As a member of an astrology group that meets regularly to discuss and share all sorts of astrological techniques, studies, books and ideas, one thing always on our agenda is the deciphering of a “Mystery Chart”. The Mystery Chart exercise is a perfect way to see how our own astrological learning, ideas and assumptions influence what we see or read in a chart, helping us to be cautious in what we ascertain and expect about an astrological chart, but also helping us trust further our language and recognize how accurate it can be.
Our group starts the session by asking questions about the chart. Without knowing any times, dates or places, only the outer planets giving us clues as to the individuals era of birth, we make statements about the person and share our observances and reasons as to what this person may have done or does in their life. This is what the group had to say about the above chart. First their questions or statements, then the signs, planets and aspects they were looking at if mentioned, followed by my answers and prompts.*
Did this person suffer depression, anxiety and fear?
Saturn in the 8th – square moon
Yes , perhaps not in a traditional sense, but you could say that they did through their role and view of society and the situations they found themselves in.
They had an eclectic mind, were an independent thinker!
Mercury sextile Uranus con North Node
Were they an Astrologer ?
Pisces moon and Jupiter in 12th trine Neptune . Uranus trines and sextiles nodes .Aquarius MC.
They had a difficult career path, not a smooth journey through life!
Saturn tradition ruler of the MC in 8th rx, square Moon in 10th.
Was death a big theme in their lives?
Saturn rx in 8th in Sag.
Was their work indicative of their death ?
Yes, very much so.
Did they have many hidden aspects to their lives?
Pisces Moon, 12th house planets.
It shows this person had a great ability to do what they wanted , what they desired and were passionate about, with Mercury strong in Gemini , Venus strong in Taurus and Venus rising!
They perhaps were not so co-operative, they were very much compelled to follow their own path even though it was very difficult!
Venus in Taurus rising.
So they had and carried many hidden aspects?
Yes, but others were very much aware of their motivations, but not what they were up to at a particular time necessarily.
Were they seen for what they do in their work place?
Moon in 10th
Were they a nurturer of the general population?
Moon in 10th.
Yes , but think as wildly as possible as to what that could mean. They weren’t a Mother Teresa.
Were they on a mission?
Strong fire sign planets – Jupiter/Aries, Uranus/Aries, Neptune/Leo, Saturn/Sag and Mars Pisces.
A charismatic, beautiful looking person, passionate? Expected with someone with Venus rising!
Were they ill?
Venus and Chiron conjunction , Venus rules 6th house.
Did they come from a nebulous upbringing? Drunken home?
No, but moved around a lot. Although they had a good and safe upbringing, they never called one place home.
Were they off with the fairies ?
Neptune IC , Pisces planets, 12th house planets.
No, he was very earthy and real about what he did although very idealistic. The Neptune IC relates to Neptune more in the sense of “ where is home”, which will make more sense when you find out who it is. Oops I just spiltt the beans as to this person being male.
Was he a spy? Behind the scenes type of person?
Pisces and 12th house planets.
Yes. Think about Mars and Uranus in the 11th – what could they have perhaps been up to behind the scenes?
Were they eccentric?
Yes. I think they would have had to be to do what they did.
Did they carry much mysterious information?
Was he a writer?
Moon ruling 3rd , trine Pluto. Mercury Gemini and North Node.
Was he a mystery writer?
At this stage, we seem to be getting close, but we only have 45 minutes given to do this whole exercise and every one gets quite intrigued as who it might be and there is still so much to talk about once the mystery is revealed , it is time to reveal the mystery.
Do you know who it might be? Given the clues and the chart, we know it’s a man behind the scenes but very much noticed, a writer with a mission and many hidden agendas, a charismatic fellow concerned with defending others, especially the impoverished and downtrodden of society.
A few more clues – before 1 reveal who it is. He became a living legend and myth in his own lifetime, he was much loved and hated, admired and deceived. He had a great cause and a capacity to persist, follow his own moral judgements and beliefs, certainly a unique and passionate individual, this person is no other than the – Go to answer:
If you,re ready to find out who it is, GO HERE! or do more of your own detective work before looking at who it is!

Full Moon Cancer 16th Jan 2014
Full Moon in Cancer
Jan 16th 2014
4:52 am UT
If the Full Moon indicates a time to reflect upon our personal affairs then no Full Moon seems as personal as a Cancer Moon. Dignified in the sign of the Crab and illuminated by the scrutinizingly hard gaze of this year’s Capricorn Sun, this Moon augurs a chance to review our feelings of attachment to the things we hold dearest and manage them with some degree of practical objectivity.
Unlike other planetary transits, whose effect upon the horoscope may be observed individually, the transiting Sun and Moon (the luminaries) constitute a complete unit whose polarity creates an energy flow together and so must be used with each other when observing transits. New Moons are especially potent in activating a natal/progressed planet, particularly by conjunction or opposition (and to a lesser extent a square), and usually augur the commencement of a new venture, as indexed by the horoscope. In the same vein, Full Moons seem to have the opposite effect by deactivating or bringing to culmination themes indicated by planet/house. Sometimes a New/Full Moon transit may be the sole harbinger of a major life event.
To understand the effects of this Cancer Moon we must first understand the polarity of this Sun/Moon combination. Cancer is the love we show toward those to whom we are attached whereas Capricorn is our love to those that abide by certain limits and obey the rules. Hence we have the axis of the ideal parental influence, where a balance of home and family values are weighed against those of society and the state.
As we have been witnessing, particularly highlighted by the New Moon this New Year’s Day, there is considerable weight behind Capricorn at the moment with Pluto holding a massive stake in all affairs practical and socially binding. These themes are currently being pursued with fanatical zeal in all communities and seem to outweigh the more whimsically personal needs that seem centred around domestic routines, family care and the nurturing of our more personal matters, ruled by Cancer.
This Cancer Full Moon brings a strong awareness of the need to answer to an increasing social pressure to nurture and support state and business matters at the expense of showing an attentiveness to the home fires. This social pressure accentuated and abated by a trine aspect from Saturn (ruler of Capricorn) in watery Scorpio, echoing themes of society’s formation of deep, transformative structures and sobering forces to further diminish our attachment to whimsical habits and rituals and our addiction to our toxic sense of sentimentality.
What we come to discover is that sentimentality is merely the expression of emotion without judgment. When we blindly express emotion without an acknowledgement that judgment should enter into how we should react to what we see and hear, we dangerously manifest a desire to eliminate an existential condition of human life, namely the need to always exercise judgment. Sentimentality is therefore childish and potentially reductive of our humanity.
If this 26 degrees Cancer Full Moon aligns within 5 degrees of any planet in your chart, then observe its effect not only upon the affairs governing the planet but also the house placement and the house ruled by that planet.
Clinging, addictive habits that jeopardise your health and personal happiness need to be addressed. If you are having troubles identifying and dealing with these more specifically, please seek further clarity and guidance from the services of our C*I*A’s professional astrologers.

Eclipsed by Scorpio
On the 13th November 2012 at 10.12 pm GMT, there will be a Total Solar Eclipse at 21 Scorpio 56:
Eclipse begins 19:38 Universal Time (UT) on November 13 and ends at 00:46 UT on November 14, 2012.
It will rise at Darwin in the Northern Territory of Australia on the 14th November casting its shadow through northern Queensland right across Cairns, over New Zealand across the Pacific Ocean and will set near the east coast of South America, (map 1). This Eclipse will literally put Australia and New Zealand under the spotlight.
Map 1- Solar Total Eclipse 13th November 2012
Total Solar Eclipse 13th Nov 2012 UTC, 21 Degrees Scorpio
The Sun and Moon are minus 18 degrees in southern declination parallel Pluto and the Moon will also be perigee (closer to the earth) in its cycle. Perigee eclipses have more impact on the earth causing more natural disasters like flooding , cyclones and earthquakes , the fact that this is a southern hemisphere eclipse, we are again in the danger zone including New Zealand.
How will this eclipse affect you on a personal level? In ancient Hermetic tradition, an eclipse offered an inner entrance to spiritual realms. The moon covering the sun was the symbolic alchemical marriage between female and male forces, merging to create a tunnel to higher realms and inner vision. This was the time when the macrocosm and the microcosm became ONE.
Eclipses are like beacons shining a band of light to guide us as we walk the earth plane. Not all eclipses are the same in intensity and duration. This eclipse will be a Total Eclipse, which means it will last longer and have a more profound influence on the vibration of the earth. Eclipsing us in the zodiac sign of Scorpio brings in an even deeper level of awareness. Scorpio digs to the depths to find solutions to problems, eliminates what is not necessary and rises upward renewed with a new sense of identity. The Keywords associated with Scorpio and the 8th House are death and rebirth. The focus is on the sub- atomic level of consciousness; deep analysis and inner reflection.
This eclipse will continue to cleanse your vibration for quite a while because both the North Node and Saturn are also in the sign of Scorpio. Think about the process as a complete spiritual detox. At the beginning as your body begins to purge all the toxins- you feel weak, tired, confused, achy and nauseous. Then you reach a critical point in the detoxing cycle and you start to feel stronger and renewed. Get the garbage out of your life! Find something to be passionate about and just do it! Saturn likes structure and discipline and in Scorpio can achieve mastery, so don’t be afraid to shed the old skin for the new you.
Scorpio is also the sign of trust, loyalty and deep associations- they need to know that you will keep and honour their deepest secrets and desires. Scorpios don’t need lots of friends; they are very selective in finding those associations they can keep forever. With all this Scorpio energy, you may find that your interactions with others take on a deeper level of awareness, and quality will become more important than quantity. Saturn will remain in Scorpio until the 24th December 2014 and the North Node until 19th February 2013, therefore prepare yourself for this shift in consciousness and make the changes before Saturn forces them unto you.
Let’s zoom into this eclipse and see what areas in your life will be in focus for the next 6 months.
- Cast a natal chart for the eclipse set for your location and see what sign is rising on the Ascendant (ASC) and setting on the Descendant (DSC).
- Which of your natal houses have come to light on the horizon?
- This axis becomes the focus of the eclipse for you on a personal level.
- For example, once you cast a chart for the eclipse relocated to your locality, you find that Capricorn is rising and Cancer on the descendant.
In your natal chart, you have Capricorn on the 5th house cusp and Cancer on the 11th house – this axis becomes your area of focus.
- You may even find a natal planet(s) coming to the horizon; this will add another specific flavour to the eclipse.
Natal houses coming to the horizon.
1st and 7th
Generally fortunate conditions with favourable changes, pleasant association and friends.
2nd and 8th
Financial matters need to be considered carefully, intimate relationships take on a new meaning.
3rd and 9th
Changes and Travelling, much correspondence, dealings with siblings, relatives and foreigners.
4th and 10th
Increased popularity and responsibility; new business, beneficial changes of occupation. Favourable domestic conditions and renovations.
5th and 11th
Increase of pleasure; new friends; love affairs ; pleasurable associations; new networks.
6th and 12th
Focus on improving your health, organising and completing those jobs undone, taking up a creative project.
Important Transits to the Eclipse to keep an eye on.
The North Node will reach the degree of the eclipse on the 3rd Feb 2013, we may hear news of some natural disaster around this time and Saturn will be conjunct the Eclipse degree on the 21st January , 21st April and 15th Oct 2014. These dates will bring your attention back to the Eclipse – thus if you haven’t already surrendered to the purging Scorpio process, Saturn as the wise teacher will remind you that it’s Time to start without any further delays. Write down the changes you want to make in your life, step by step as a list, implementing them like a business plan- do not rush as Saturn and Scorpio aren’t quick and impulsive, their energy is fixed, thorough and stable. At the end of it all you will feel empowered.

Libra Ingress 2012
The Sun enters Libra at 14:48 UTC on 22 September 2012.
This is the spring equinox in the southern hemisphere and the autumnal equinox in the northern hemisphere. At all points on the globe, the length of day and night will be equal. This is the third of the four cardinal points of the zodiacal wheel which occur each calendar year, following the Aries Equinox and the Cancer Solstice, and preceding the Capricorn Solstice.
Libra is the sign of the balance, the only sign of the zodiac which is represented by an inanimate object. It is the sign that is exactly halfway around the circle of the ecliptic, the point of mediation between the beginning and the end. Being a cardinal sign, it is associated with initiation of change, and being an air sign, it is concerned with the abstract principles behind reality. Being the dignity of Venus and the exaltation of Saturn, Libra represents the exacting standards to which the highest aesthetic must conform, the sweet harmony of mathematical and geometric perfection, the perfectly balanced judgment that corrects the unjust. Hence it is in the sign of Libra that we the universal experiences of role-playing in relationships, argument and counter-argument, thesis and antithesis, forever aiming to achieve the optimum balance between parties. When the Sun enters Libra, it is a good time to reflect on the social side of our lives – how we relate to those around us, whether partners, friends, enemies, employers, employees, parents, children. It requires us to be proactive to maintain a sense of composure and balance in our dealings with people generally, we have to give as well as take; to be gallant, dignified and civil, and to be responsive in kind. This means entering a game of sorts, but playing by the rules.

Equinox 2012 Libra Ingress
The Sun entering Libra, the sign of balance, joining Pluto and Uranus in cardinal signs, illuminates that which unfortunately in this world is so out of balance. War, no Peace, rich, too many poor, the powerful and the powerless, climate change and more, much more. Yet what stands out more at the moment is the annoying political systems around the globe governing us. With predominantly only 2 party systems in this supposedly democratic western world, all we see is the continuing bickering and slandering off of each other, refusing to work together to focus on the more important issues, making us all feel like throwing up our arms in defeat.
This powerlessness, comes with Neptune , now back at zero Pisces, inconjunct the Sun at this ingress and again exactly opposite Regulus. We are more than disappointed and have lost faith with those who lead. The Equinox chart will be in effect till the next cardinal ingress at the Capricorn Solstice and as we know an election of Presidents in the USA, will take place in early November, highlighting the fact that there isn’t much choice, only two. For election day in the USA, Mercury in early Sagittarius will station retrograde and square Neptune on the night of the election. We look back to the year 2000, when on US election day, Mercury was just days away from stationing direct at zero Scorpio. Back in 2000 Mercury was also square Neptune at 3 Aquarius, and a miss count of votes in Florida, delayed the announcement of who won the election, making everything appear to be a complete cover up to ensure the election of George W Bush. We are reassured this time with Mercury in Sagittarius, sign of Truth, that we will more clearly see any obvious corrupt doings. It fares somewhat better this time around as Mercury stations retrograde the evening of the election, making more of a firm statement instead of a confusing one., This time Neptune is in Pisces, and in 2000 Mercury was in Scorpio, both signs of undercover and secrets, so we can still expect some scandal. Let’s hope that the American citizens are more aware and awake than they were last time and stand up to make their votes count.
This Libra Equinox the MOON makes a statement from 27 SAGITTARIUS, in the Galactic Center opening up our vibe to the really big picture. We see far and we feel how far things are beyond our control, we tune into feeling comforted by a vision of the future, far away from the troubles of the world. Yet Ceres opposes and we are bought back down to Earth to illuminate what can be done with inspiration, forethought and truth to attend to what needs cultivating.
Venus squares Mars from Leo to Scorpio, a pretty firey combo. Expect fireworks as we forge ahead with our own creative spirit and come across conflicting energies that try and control and sway things another way. This may be good in some ways for making progress in many departments, the challenge is on to grasp that passionate part of ourselves and do something more with it. The Sun between the two highlights a balancing to help drive us to shine out amongst our role playing in all relationships.
Many aspects remain similar to the exact Pluto Uranus square that happened a few days ago, with Jupiter quintile Pallas and Uranus, and sextile Venus from Gemini reminding us to channel our thoughts, speak our truths and help manifest our ideas out there into the world. Pluto Uranus take 2 article here .http://www.cosmicintelligenceagency.com/2012/09/pluto-uranus-take-2/
This Libra Equinox, focus your intention on the role you play in the relationships in your life, and on how you can contribute to a greater sense of justice in the world through active engagement with opposing views, so that a clearer, more considered and fairer outcome can emerge.

New Moon In Virgo
The New Moon in Virgo -
2:10am UT, Sunday 16th September
Andrew Smith – Agent EI
The full narrated version (20 minutes) of this article is found at the following link (this includes at 46 second clip from Horton Hears a Who): http://db.tt/x6Q1Vgzq (You can copy and paste the link onto your browser)
When the great moment came and the Beasts spoke, he [Uncle Andrew (a “dreadfully practical” man)] missed the whole point; for a rather interesting reason. When the Lion had first begun singing, long ago when it was still quite dark, he had realised that the noise was a song. And he had disliked the song very much. It made him think and feel things he did not want to think and feel. Then, when the sun rose and he saw that the singer was a lion (“only a lion,” as he said to himself) he tried his hardest to make believe that it wasn’t singing and never had been singing – only roaring as any lion might in a zoo in our own world. “Of course it can’t really have been singing,” he thought, “I must have imagined it. I’ve been letting my nerves get out of order. Whoever heard of a lion singing?” And the longer and more beautifully the Lion sang, the harder Uncle Andrew tried to make himself believe that he could hear nothing but roaring. Now the trouble about trying to make yourself stupider than you really are is that you very often succeed. Uncle Andrew did. He soon did hear nothing but roaring in Aslan’s song. Soon he couldn’t have heard anything else even if he had wanted to. And when at last the Lion spoke and said, “Narnia, awake”, he didn’t hear any words: he heard only a snarl. And when the Beasts spoke in answer, he heard only barkings, growlings, baying and howlings. And when they laughed – well, you can imagine. – from Chapter 11, The Magician’s Nephew, The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis
Is the above extract from The Narnia Chronicles an exercise of pure imagination to entertain young children and deluded adults alike or was C. S. Lewis onto something, embedding a “forgotten” reality within the text of a fantasy story about other worlds where every facet of reality can not only communicate with each other but is teeming with consciousness? Lewis’ Narnia is alive with talking animals, plants, therianthropes, inanimate objects, and it sounds much like the world that all our indigenous tribes tell us that we actually live within. Yet surely that is not possible? Surely matter is matter; a plant is merely an oxygen/ carbon dioxide regulating system; a tree is for paper and furniture; animals are for food or domestic entertainment; fish, like sheep, are stupid; and humans are the elite species on the Earth, since we are supposedly uniquely adept at utilising systems of symbolic communication such as language for self-expression, the exchange of ideas, and organisation. (In other words, we can write, talk, think, are conscious of ourselves!!) Without going into the academic debate about what defines consciousness or life, put in simple terms, we are taught that if you can’t prove something, it does not exist.
Kangaroo: There is nothing on that speck.
Horton: But I heard it.
Kangaroo: Did you? Really? Oh my! Then how come I don’t hear anything. Well? If you can’t see, hear, or feel something it doesn’t exist. Believing in tiny imaginary people is just not something we do. Or tolerate here in the jungle of Nool.
Horton: Really? Cause I verified I really tried, I can find somebody who believes what I’m saying.
Kangaroo: You will do nothing of the sort. You will not breathe the word of this lie to anyone else. Especially the children. I do not want you poisoning their minds with this nonsense. Our community has standards, Horton. If you want to remain a part of that I recommend you follow them. Have a nice day.
This interchange takes place between the fictional Horton (an elephant) and the Kangaroo in Dr. Seuss’ classic Horton Hears a Who, and it nicely sums up the prevailing attitude towards nature and reality. When confronted by a notion that pushes the frontiers of consensus reality, ridicule, stemming from fear of the unknown, tends to be used to force conformity. Matter, after all, is inert, inanimate and lacking consciousness. What did our ancestors know after all – they had smaller brains; lived within a deluded magical consciousness, since they had less factual knowledge about nature after all. Modern humans have mastered myriad rational approaches to invent countless ingenious ways to test and ultimately master nature and have created endless possible ways to manipulate the tangible world. After all our lives are healthier, wealthier, happier, more fulfilled, cleaner and more educated than ever before. The earth speaks? Pah. That’s some new age fantasy talk.
Yet, have you ever thought about how we really figured nature out prior to science? Where did we get our plant lore from, for example? Was it really all simple trial and error? Was it as simple as watching someone die eating a poisonous red berry inspiring the rest of the community not to eat that poisonous red berry? How did the indigenous Amazonian tribes know about anaesthetic before western medicine did? Is it possible that plants talk? Prior to the 2nd February 1966, Dr. Cleve Backster didn’t think so. But when his lie detector recorded a rapid response to his thought of burning the leaves of his dracaena pot plant, he had some serious re-thinking to do.
Having moved into private practise after years of perfecting the first standardized system for lie detection for the CIA, Backster pulled an all-nighter as he was trying to conduct research into his polygraph techniques. As always happens in the small hours of the night when we enter into a hypnogogic state, an idea took root in his mind that he could not shake. A message, or gift, that arose during the period known as the first sleep. He became consumed with the notion of connecting his plant to the detector to see what would happen. Much to his surprise, the plant did not have a smooth, flat pattern of electrical activity, but appeared to be changing moment to moment, just as it does with humans. In further testing, Backster tried a series of physical tests, such as stabbing the leaves with a pen, but to no avail. However at 7:14am he imagined burning the plant. Simultaneously the polygraph recording pen moved rapidly to the top of the graph, indicating a dramatic excitation. It was as though the plant could read his mind. As the plant continued to have what would be considered an enormous, panicked reaction, Backster stopped thinking about hurting the plant and the polygraph returned to a normalised trace signature.
Is it possible that nature is conscious and that our predecessors were not deluded simpletons?
Okay, I hear you say. This is interesting, but what has it got to do with this forth coming New Moon? After all, this article is supposed to be an astrological reflection on the sign of Virgo.
There are different levels to which we can interpret any event or person. We can take things literally or symbolically; we can describe the physicality of something, or its meaning. The Simpsons cartoon can be viewed as a simple entertaining cartoon, or a comic satirical take on human dysfunctionality. Since astrology does not exist independently from the cosmos, this multi-tiered level of reality also exists within astrological interpretation. The manifestation of each astrological archetypal potential depends ultimately upon the conscious awareness and openness of the person seeking to interpret that potentiality.
All astrological signs arise from the combinations of two fundamental building blocks– an element and a mode. The four elements used within the western tradition essentially describe four primary states of consciousness. Each is expressed in one of three ways – outwardly, inwardly and changeably. The combination of both element and mode gives rise to the 12 signatures of consciousness – the signs of the zodiac.
Most of what you have read about Virgo stems from the prevailing consciousness through which astrologers have operated – that of a deterministic and rational materialism. The Earth element is seen as the lowest vibrational state within consciousness and deals fundamentally with the solid, real world. Hence Earth is grounded, matter of fact, born to serve, industrious, methodical and efficient. The language commonly associated with the Mutable mode is one of enquiry, curiosity, flexibility and changeableness. When this mode is expressed through Earth we find an ingenuity of methodological practise that demonstrates the precision of spirit as it expressed through human rationality. Indeed we could argue the point that the entire nature of modern science is Virgoan with its obsession with testing nature, improving it and analysing it, seeking a rational explanation to facilitate a mastery over it.
Yet if you observe the surface of something, that is exactly what you observe – the surface!
Like Dr. Backster, science is starting to come to terms with the idea that nature possesses, like humans, an interior dimension; that it is not rational; and does not respond in linear, predictable ways. It thinks. It is alive. Therefore it makes choices.
By extension, if nature is alive, surely communication is two ways between all aspects of nature and not just one way, from the elite hominids to nature.
I know that many of you reading or listening to this note are immersed in some form of holistic therapeutic body practise that requires listening to what the body is saying, like Amatsu, Kinesiology, Lomilomi massage; or are involved in disciplines that involve more natural practises like shamanism, herbalism, crystal therapy; that takes for granted the intelligence of nature. You know that the earth speaks; that it communicates; that it is conscious. You will undoubtedly be able to share with me myriad examples and research that demonstrates the interiority of nature. Certainly I could take up much more of your time with further stories of nature’s communication. However I decided to focus on Backster’s work since his work remains largely unknown within the science community, since it is too threatening to the status quo to accept. It reminds me of the Kangaroo in Dr. Seuss’ Horton.
Backster’s story, the experiences of indigenous shamans, the myths of our ancestors all point towards the true meaning of Virgo – the two way exchange of information between matter and humans.
And you don’t have to be a Virgo to get this fact. That the archetype of Virgo exists implies that EVERYONE can listen and tune into what nature is telling us.
But it is also true to say, that like Uncle Andrew, we, as a collective, have a choice to listen or not. Many people choose to ignore what they bodies are telling them; what foods they should or shouldn’t eat, over riding their bodily instincts with their minds, until a physical crisis forces them to stop and re-evaluate (or just take a Rennie!). Flood plains exist for a reason, yet we consciously choose to build on them and wonder why those apartments get flooded regularly.
Despite the fact that we have been moving through the Virgoan time of year since the 22nd August at 6:06pm (BST), the lunation is only taking place on the 16th September, 6 days before the Sun moves into Libra. However, the lunation is a perfect time to re-ignite all facets of the Virgoan consciousness, not just the one I am writing about. It is a chance to really listen to an area of, or person in, your life, letting them/ it speak to you, rather than you applying your mind onto that area or person. It is a chance to start afresh and to allow a new level of awareness to penetrate your very being. You can chose to do that without the aid of your birth chart and simply meditate on whoever/ whatever you need to listen to. Alternatively you can use your birth chart as a guide to understand what arena, or person, is being brought into focus with during this forth coming lunation. Irrespectively of whether you are born during the Virgoan period of the year or not, everyone’s birth signature contains this Virgoan pattern and it lies in a zone in your chart, called a house. This house highlights an arena of life wherein you will perpetually experience this spark of curiosity and a need to listen more carefully.
To understand where Virgo falls in your chart you will need to look at your birth chart and locate where the sign of Virgo falls in your chart and make a note of the house that this sign occupies. To do this, please follow the four simple steps:
- If you are a client, then Virgo is coloured green on the chart I gave you during your session. Alternatively it looks like a “M” (without the tail)
- The forthcoming lunation is taking place at the end of tropical Virgo, so you will need to look towards the end of this sign to locate it within your chart
- There are 12 houses, or zones, in a birth chart and they refer to the areas of life experience wherein the archetypal potential of your life will find an outlet for expression. If you imagine your chart to be a wheel, the houses are contained within the thin black line portions which makes the birth circle look like possessing spokes. (Please note that the houses are listed in an anti-clockwise manner, so the first house cusp is at the 9 o’clock position (if you pretend that the horoscope is a clock)).
- The picture below depicts a birth chart, with the position of the lunation on the outside, which will fall within the 1st house.
- For those more technically inclined, you could check what planets in your chart are being triggered by making a note of any points that are at 23° (plus or minus 3°), since this lunation will harmonise with those points. Also, you could check any point that falls at 7° of Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius).
Since consciousness is the key factor in determining the quality of your life, there are differing levels to which each arena of a chart can manifest. The left hand chart (figure 3) illustrates in a one-word concept the practical manifestation of the houses; whereas the right hand chart (figure 4) illustrates a one-word concept of the archetypal or spiritual manifestation of the houses.
Figure 3 Figure 4
The following is a general guideline to help you become more aware of the arena and people in your life which is being reignited during the forthcoming month:
1st house – Practical: your sense of identity; your image; your body. You!
Spiritual: How you embody your spirit
2nd house – Practical: your talents and skills; your attitude towards your possessions and money
Spiritual: Your sense of security and attachment; what you value
3rd house – Practical: your sense of perception and how you assimilate factual information; your way of thinking and writing; your sibling and neighbourhood relationships

In summary, what I am asking you to reflect on is that Earth is not inert. Matter is conscious, maybe not in the verbally-elite and rational way to which we have become so accustomed, but it is conscious! Our knowledge does not stem from testing and observing nature. It stems from living within a vast field of intelligence that permeates and bathes us within it. It stems from the dialogue that nature has WITH us and from those who developed the ability to listen and translate what was being disseminated into practical applications. Nature contains memory; it thinks; and if we take the time to listen to it, we can derive much meaning, sustenance and knowledge that will help us through the massive and rapid changes that are taking place within our individual and collective consciousness. In the same way, the art of really listening enables us to hear without judgement. It helps us develop compassion and true empathy for all living things, including ourselves. In order to ensure that our soul is healthy at the details of daily living, we need to successfully manage the lessons of our daily reality so that we can start to focus on the next stage of our life. We cannot give of ourselves in relationship without being whole onto ourselves. Meditating on the two way exchange of information between yourself and matter during this Virgoan lunation will help you feel much more capable and able to connect with others on equal terms which is the message of the next lunation, that of Libra!
Thanks again for either listening to, or reading, this missive.

The Venus Mission 2012
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=277322985686358 Check out our Animation of the Venus Cycle on our FB page.
A special highlight that will be promoted by the C*I*A in 2012, is the Venus transit on 5/6 June 2012, the perfect day for astrologers to band together with others during this astronomical event. The transit of Venus, which happens when the disc of the planet Venus moves in front of the disc of the Sun, also called the Occultation of Venus, a rare event.
Currently the transits of Venus occur approximately every 121.5 to 105.5 years, in pairs, 8 years apart and then again only 121.5 or 105.5 years later, with another pair of transits. In June 2004 we had the 1st of this pair in the tropical sign of Gemini and the upcoming transit in June 2012, will be last for another 105.5 years. These transits occur at the moment in only one polarity of the zodiac Gemini and Sagittarius. The last pair of transits in the sign of Sagittarius and these current ones in Gemini.
A special highlight that will be promoted by the C*I*A in 2012, is the Venus transit on 5/6 June 2012, (depending where you live, see links and maps attached) the perfect day for astrologers to band together with others during this astronomical event. Although 120 years is along time between transit, Venus occultations connect to the spirit of certain mini”Ages” through cultural, scientific and philosophical shifts in the years and decades before and after.
1518-1526 – Gemini – 13-14 deg Gemini
Age of Renaissance – Rebirth
1631-1639 – Sagittarius – 14 – 12 deg- Sagittarius
Age of Reason, Scientific Revolution
1761- 1769 – Gemini – 105 – 15 – 14
Age of Enlightenment, Ideas – Discovery, 1st Industrial Age
1874-1882 – Sag- 122 – 14 Sag
Age of Imperialism, Growth, Expansion, 2nd Industrial Age
2004 – 2012 – Gem – 17 -16 Gemini
Age of Awareness, Co-Creation, the age of social networks, social change groups, Anonymous, Occupy etc : changing our minds, reprogramming beliefs, new discoveries, technology to deal with resources, energy, water.
There is no doubt that since the last occultation of this pair in 2004 in Gemini we have become increasingly aware of global concerns in regard to climate change, sustainable energy the global economy and its efficiency. Venus in Gemini also depicts the rise in social networking and the ability to connect with each other and like minded individuals around the globe. Working together raising awareness to global issues and the transforming values held by society are the key issues here. The brotherhood , the fellowship, love of one another and all earthly creatures and wouldn’t we all love to see Peace and Love guide the planet.
Because of this rare event, in the middle of 2012 we ask you to join us in honoring this significant event to align our thoughts and global intentions as we reevaluate the core values that drive the Soul of the World, the heart of what we love, honour and respect. We’ll be extending the reach beyond astrology and asking others who value Peace, the sacred, with a great Love for our planet to be involved.
Venus, for millenia has been the planet symbolic of love, beauty and peace and it has the most magical of all planetary cycles and is the brightest of all the planets found in the night sky.
Venus, reflecting a divine proportion of aesthetics and beauty, has inspired artists, designers and architects, philosophers and scientists since the movements of Venus have been observed.
Venus creates a pentacle (see diagram above) with her conjunctions with the Sun as either inferior(retrograde inbetween Sun and Earth) or superior (on the other side of the Sun from Earth)conjunctions creating five points for every retrograde conjunction and for every superior conjunction within eight years. Also quite magically creates the peace sign during her elliptical dances around the Earth(see diagram 1 above).** This 5 to 8 ratio of this synodic cycle is a reflection of the fibonacci sequence that is seen in many aspects of nature, shells, flowers and fractals as Venus’s movements remind us of the magical connection of “As above, So below”.
So to activate and motivate and in the spirit of 2012, no doubt a year already associated as a focus of global transformation, a shift in consciousness and perhaps a fear of the unknown, we can play our role by activating a Peaceful loving intention for our world and it’s people during the Venus Mission.
Let’s stand together during this time on the day and hours of Venus occultation to stand up for what we value most in this world. Human rights, Earth rights, the protection of resources, water, green energy and the love of nature and animals, justice, peace, and equality. It is a good time to collectively stand, peacefully for all that we would like to see change.

The Venus Mission is a highlight of the C*I*A’s “2012- The Year of Astrology” campaign where we invite you to join us in re-activating the Heart of the World, with our collective intentions aligning our thoughts and motivations for this world.
You don’t have to be Astrologically minded to be involved. All individuals and groups with their “causes” are asked to join in this Peaceful activation on June 5/6 2012.

More about Venus – HERE
** – It first came to my attention that Venus creates the Peace sign with the 4 main points created in her cycle, by an Article on Venus in Jan 2006 by astrologer Deb Houlding in the Mountain Astrologer .themountainastrologer.com. The Peace sign was designed in 1958 by Gerald Holton for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. It was inspired by sempahore symbols N and D, standing for Nuclear disarmament.
Where the Suns beauty spot Venus will be visible with telescope and sun filter.
Shaded areas depict night time where the transit will not be able to be seen.
On March 31st 2012 – Saturday at Abbotsford Convent Melbourne, Julija will present a whole day workshop on the Venus Cycle and how to adapt that to your own astrological chart. Find out where the current Venus points are activated and start creating more magic in your own life. More details available soon. If you are interested please email email@example.com and we will add you to the C*I*A email list to receive further notices.
