Saturday 14th June:
As Mars approaches 13° Libra for the the third and final time in six months we sense an increased rise in hostility akin to an aggravation upon an open sore. Both in personal and global terms, what we are experiencing is the escalation of Mars’ inimitable offensive/defensive verve as the planetary God of War is about to pull the trigger the notorious 13th degree of the recent Cardinal Cross.
Mars entered Libra on December 8th 2013 and will leave the sign on July 26th 2014. In this period he has become involved in several serious tussles against power planets Jupiter, Uranus and Pluto as he swipes past these, forwards, back and now forwards once more, the most critical of these being his retrograding alignment into all three squaring planets around April 23rd, creating a hard 4th harmonic syndrome we all remember as the Cardinal Grand Cross.
Mars’ journey through Libra – a sign in which he is most ineffective due to Libra’s inability to provide a single-pointed and direct focus – has been prolonged because of incidental retrogradation, a phenomenon which recurs every two years when Mars opposes the transiting Sun. Mars likes to work. Assertively, aggressively, he just gets the job done. In Libra this is made difficult because he must depend on the efforts of a partner (friendly or otherwise), whose pace, motivation, skill and general aptitude may not exactly be matching his own. Often, out of politeness he finds that he is either carrying, waiting, coaxing or coaching others to move their butt, often with an element of reluctance. Of course, we best not even mention Libran propensity to slacken off entirely and just do nothing if the options are too confining or too many to ponder over..
In this seven month period, Mars would have contacted Jupiter, Uranus and Pluto by square/opposition on three different occasions. The first was around Xmas 2013, when we experienced our first taste of peoples’ inability to work together and co-operate. It seemed like a rising outbreak of people refusing to co-operate, most publically seen in the escalatingThai protests, Ukraine pro-European Union protests, Islamist protests in Egypt, the Syrian Civil War, Iraqui rebel resistance, South Sudanese political crisis, and Israeli–Palestinian conflict action. Ona personal level, you may reflect to what events were precipitating in your world around these holidays. Certainly most would agree these were not the warmest and most jovial of days we come to expect to enjoy with our loved ones around this time of year. Something seemed to be shifting and it was hard to feel the interpersonal cohesiveness we come to expect.
Mars headed all the way back through 13° Libra when on 23rd April formed an exact Grand Cross with planets Ju/Ur/Pl. By this stage Russia has taken over the Crimean region from the Ukraine, chemical attacks are used in the Syrian civil war (tens of thousands die), the South Sudan conflict escalates to hundreds of “targeted killings”, while anger in South Korea over the sinking ferry (300+ deaths) causes the president to resign over his immediate handling of the incident.
Many of us will remember the Grand Cross in April as internally uncomfortable time and in terms of personal affairs it seemed as if we were being uncomfortably pulled in all directions simultaneously. Decisions were forced, intensely so, with subdued anger and greatly exaggerated emotion. For anyone affected, it meant that life would never be the same thanks to enormous changes that took origin in the mindset as early as June 2012 and became enacted through this time.
For those few that see things in spiritual terms (and hopefully that means most of you C*I*A readers and agents), it would mean a shift of understanding that we are living in a world whose entire value system is about to be flipped on its head and that the pursuit of things we have been told to blindly accede towards have been, by many, all but abandoned in pursuit of an “alternative”.
Iraq is facing its most severe crisis in years, with the country on the brink of break-up amid lightning offensives by jihadist militants.
Mars turned direct on the 20th May and will take one last squaring swipe at Uranus and Pluto (mid-late June) before exiting Libra on July 26. This will be a interesting time since we anticipate some outcome on agitation that began in December 2013, became personalised in April as we reacted with zealous disdain, particularly to those closest to us. The trend seems to show a critical rise of protest movements leading to precipitous interventions against poor, oppressive or antiquated methods of leadership.
The recent military coup in Thailand came to suppress any political protest and overthrow a government unable to act decisively. The tension in Russia escalates as pressure build in the Ukraine, whilst Russia and China make extraordinary business alliances over energy supply deals. Matters in Iraq are starting to explode with insurgent overtaking the capital, bringing the US into the political fray once again. In fact, wherever you look in the world, global or local there is hostility mounting. Interestingly the number of local shootings, particularly around school in America has increased since Mars went direct. In particular in Australia we have a government is intent on transforming every aspect of Australian middle and lower income earning classes and continues to inflame the population with its unpopular policies and budget.
In Brazil, currently host to the World Cup, the most widely viewed and followed sporting event in the world (bigger than the Olympics) there is simmering civil tension and the stench of corruption. Growing furor surrounding FIFA over alleged vote-buying for the 2022 World Cup stews and anger over domestic political corruption broils throughout the country. It is acknowledged that this is the most trouble-plagued World Cup in history. It threatens to sully Brazil’s global soccer party as it kicks off against a backdrop of protests, unrest and alleged political graft.
As Mars approaches the most sensitive point of April’s Cardinal Grand Cross (13° 36’30 Libra), exact on Tuesday 17th June, we anticipate a triggering of the themes generated by this alignment. For those of you who wish to refresh on our analysis leading up to the event in April, they are presented for you here, below, as posted.
Friday 25th April:
The Uranus/Pluto Cycle and its sociological effects (PART 2):
If the application of the Uranus/Pluto combination is experienced as an uncontrollable surge of accelerated nervous energy in individuals, then we have already seen some historical examples of how this transit’s prolonged duration upon society comes to affect the masses. In our last post we looked at two separate periods,1930’s and 1960’s, where the individual neuro-psychological energy has progressively resonated upon other members of the ‘tribe’ and gradually amassed into an irrepressible movement of ideological outrage that has at some point erupted against the prevailing social order. The effect of these social upheavals has been to irrevocably disintegrate any core values, popularly deemed as restrictive or antiquated.
Peace rallies in the 1960’s
Because Pluto is involved, the effect is not so visible until viewed with some degree of objectivity. Pluto’s subversive energy manages to keep activity hidden, even when when fused with the electrifying Uranus energy. Since Pluto acts upon the deepest psyche of the lowest tribal frequencies, this energy amasses pressure as it builds towards a critical point. In the 1930’s, the rise of fascism was not visible until there was such an overwhelming swell of collective pressure that its proponents rose en masse to cause unspeakable acts of vandalism and destruction within their community in just one single night. After this occurred, this type of ‘mob’ behaviour had come to be prevail, although in hindsight we now consider it to have been gravely disturbing. Similarly in the 1960’s the growing need for civil freedom, equality and rising dissent over the west’s involvement in a foreign war saw a swell of mass, or ‘tribal’ activity precipitating to form large protest movements against the government. Although these were relatively peaceful demonstrations they gave rise to a new standard of collective social conduct. The rise of the ‘hippie’ culture, with its garishly colourful outfits, long hair, rejection of conventional values and the use of hallucinogenic drugs had come to pervade and break down structured societies everywhere.
Of course with breakdown comes regeneration, and the new order that took hold became one of extremities. In the 30’s the pendulum swung to the extreme right. In the sixties it swung towards to opposite extreme.
As we begin to look at the Ur/Pl effect upon our own time, we are reminded that all transits are part of a greater evolutionary cycle. Great events do not occur out of context, even if to the normal human experience these cycles are too long for us to see how they contribute toward our progressive evolutionary development. Yet, there is a grander process at work here. Those of us who are able to comprehend the bigger picture using the rich symbolism of the universal mind will also aspire to grasp a greater meaning from all this periodic upheaval.
So now to April 2014 and the Cardinal Grand Cross. How is the Uranus/Pluto square playing out for us in social terms?
Let’s start with the electrifying Uranus in Aries. As we have already uncovered in some detail, Uranus in this initial zodiac sign is producing extraordinary bursts of energy to the individual nervous systems of even the lowest evolved of entities. In the human nervous system it is manifesting as an accelerated ability to comprehend both our internal memory and incoming new information. Our ability to process data is aided not only by our increased rate of sensory perception but particularly with the facility of personal mobile gadgetry such as smartphones, computers, GPS devices, etc., all inextricably linked to the internet, connecting us with increasing speeds over ever-expanding wireless networks. Wifi hotspots are everywhere. Uranus in Aries also injects us with an unprecedented restlessness to move, we are prone to move blindly and ambitiously, and with fanatical zeal to pursue our profound ideas. As well as some remarkably innovative technological advances to increase our personal inteligence, many are urged to strive for reform on things like climate, equal rights for gay, single and aging citizens, commerce, economics, migration and socio-political refuge, fossil fuel supplies and its alternatives, work and labour, politics – just to name a few. So this is Uranus in Aries today.
Pluto in Capricorn. This droning force, which actually emanates as a low frequency vibration from beneath our feet, like the swirling lava underneath the earth’s crust, is being sensed individually too. It is the stirring tribal frequency responsible for our relentless drive for recognition, power and social independence (or lack thereof for many without power). It is the drive to achieve, proclaim and behold our ‘brand status’. An increasing, subconscious desire to dictate our own terms to others, stand firm on these, become known for enforcing these terms, and be willing to struggle to maintain them at any cost. In certain individuals, who have amassed the means and resources to realise their ideas, plans and inventions , this untiring desire has manifested in the forms of a globalised brand of product or economical influence that has become enmeshed into the fabric of everyday life (corporate monopolies and international bodies). Hence the rise of the ‘plutocrat’ in our times, the wealthy multi-billionaire with seemingly unlimited power to further increase their ‘brand status’. In greater extremes, and perhaps most concerning, this energy is expressed through some individuals as a tendency to assume very dangerous, potentially catastrophic positions. This is the compelling force of Pluto in Capricorn today, abetted further by the supporting mutual reception of Saturn in Scorpio (2012-15), which in more structured and conventional terms lends affinity to all of the Pluto traits.
In the next installment we will attempt to fuse these two energies. The combination between them will be tense because they are in square aspect to each other. In any outcome we will look at how they are forming the underlying zeitgeist that is becoming the prevailing ‘revolution in the head’ of our times.
Which way will the pendulum swing this time? Stay tuned.
Wednesday 23rd April:
The Cardinal Grand Cross. For those who have been following this post over the last two weeks, we have had some fun exploring some of the math behind this phenomenon. Today, as Mars clicks into exact position, we try to synthesize the overall energy and surmise the overall effect of this most powerful transit.
Of course, there has been a lot of hype surrounding this stellar phenomenon, and if one understands how rare this is combination really is then one may say that all the fuss is somewhat warranted. Last time this happened was on 19th Nov 1168 BCE. What happened back then that we could learn from? It’s hard to say, exactly. You see, nobody kept really good records of the historical events at the time, and if they were anything like today’s media, the accounts would be very partial, at best.
In fact, this is exactly what the crux of this Grand Cross comes down to, according to the delineations we have presented here below. The combination of planets is tense enough to precipitate a major event . The gist of what we come to understand about this cross is that
a) this event invokes the powerful symbolism suggested by the four main planets Mars, Jupiter, Uranus and Pluto
b) The essence of this transit has much to do with revolutions, mass movements, laws/publishing/religion, and fiery action
Now before we all start to scramble for the newsfeeds we must understand one thing. While we may see several local or international events which we may immediately wish to correlate to this stellar event, we need to understand that ‘events’ don’t happen out of context and seem occur only when planets form square, opposition or other funny angles in the sky. In fact we need to understand that all mundane events are actually manifestations of various stages in the development of a particular theme in an astrological cycle.
For example, we are now observing the first quarter mark of the 140 year Uranus/Pluto cycle, which commenced in 1965/66 when both planets were aligned at 0° from each other. Here is the progression of this cycle in 90° increments.
1965-66 – 0°
2012-15 – 90°
2046-48 – 180°
2073-74 – 270°
2104 – 360°
Since we know that the mid sixties was a time of massive revolutionary action, we widely accept that the applied combination of URANUS (rebellion, revolution, sudden change) and PLUTO (Powerful, invisible forces) would precipitate the conditions necessary for mass, progressive movements across the entire globe. Though we can attribute the rise of much of the fervour to the US involvement in the Vietnam war, there was also rising unrest in the youth of post war-torn countries spurring mass immigration for work and improved living conditions. Proliferation of mega-factories in developed nations changed living standards for many urban and rural citizens. Shock changes in pop culture including the rise of the pop star who would begin to espouse socio-political messages such as ‘freedom, protest, mind-expansion, etc’ in their art, spawning a complete counter-culture in everything from fashion, traditional values, relationships and career aspirations as well as religious and spiritual experimentation, on mass levels.
We know for a fact that the applying force of these two slow-moving planets, URANUS and PLUTO over the 6-7 years around 1965, when the exact conjunction occurred at 17° VIRGO had precipitated the condition for a brand new cycle of mass revolution. There was even a song. But if we ask, “did the revolution occur on the exact date of the conjunction” we may be a little disappointed. This energy was strongest at this time, but we must understand that whilst massive protests were already starting to gather steam around these dates that URANUS energy effectively is an electrical-type energy that affects the human nervous system (mostly in the form of excitement, and intuitive flashes of insight which must be shared), whilst PLUTO energy works most subversively upon the deep, collective human psyche (in the form of raw primal force, which when amassed internally can erupt uncontrollably as rage or mania). This combination hence is neuro-psychological and takes its origin in the conceptual mind rather than the practical mind or the physical body.
As this energy started to affect an increasingly larger proportion of the population, either directly or indirectly via the buzz of a critical mass, we begin to see that by the late sixties most societies had undergone a significant amount of turbulence and sweeping, irreversible changes. Most of us are aware of this decade as a culturally turbulent, and in hindsight most would agree, that it was specific events around 1965-66 that were most significant in the whole social revolution. In fact, a 1994 book about the influence of the Beatles in this decade was aptly titled “Revolution in the Head”.
The real revolution was a shift in experiential awareness. we discovered that as humans we are not necessarily bound to the constraints of the status quo, the government, the nation, the religious order. The discovery that through mass movement like media (TV, radio, vinyl, alternative press) we could transmit ideas that are able to sweep powerful messages to millions of individual nervous systems and energise them about change. Also, drugs such as marijuana and LSD, whose prolonged social use and acceptance into pop culture had given millions of people a glimpse at alternative realities and made it difficult to return to a linear dimension of cultural views. Also the rise of eastern religions into western mindsets introduced meditation as a powerful key to unlocking some of the tormenting fear-based mindsets inflicted upon the western mind, whose Christo-Judeaic ‘god’ was largely stern and judgmental.
Most of the damage was done politically of course, as the United States insisted on engaging into war in Vietnam, a conflict most saw as an unnecessary interference and senseless waste of lives, and the rise of conscientious objection to this war created a schism in society that has never really recovered. It continues to this day between left and right factions. Nobody ever dared to protest war before. This took more courage than going to war itself.
These are all examples of the Uranus/Pluto energy. we can see these all throughout history. The previous combination (closing square) was in 1932-34, the ‘revolution in the head’ this time took place with the rise of fascism all over the world, particularly Europe, where use of new technology like radio and saturation of printed media allowed the mass transmission of ‘propaganda’ to brainwash millions of citizens to comply to fundamentalist ideologies. In a few years these ideologies would support other world events, but their mass proliferation was arguably spawned in and around the years around the Ur/Pl combination. Also the discovery of atomic energy with James Chadwick discovering the neutron in 1932, Cockcroft and Walton’s nuclear transformations and in 1934 Curie and Joliot’s artificial radionuclides. Big advances that would affect the course of history.
If one is a keen astro-historian they will observe similar ‘revolutions in the head’ every 32 years or so, when Ur/Pl form a square aspect and the effect they had on the society at large. Of course Pluto did not enter mass consciousness until it was discovered in February 18, 1930. Incidentally this planet is associated in modern astrology with totalitarian power, propaganda, hypnosis and mind control, as well as atomic energy.
How does all this give us signposts about what we are experiencing today and how will our experiences influence the immediate and near future?
Monday 21st April:
OK, two things about Mars in Libra:
1) He’s very focused on getting along with others and he gets rather excited about making friends and keeping the peace.
2) He will not hesitate to give you his honest opinion on any matter, which is sometimes not the wisest tactic. Also, if he’s not in the mood forget it, you’ll get no work out of him.
Since Mars is the fastest moving of all four planets in the Grand Cross, it is his movement into position that will activate the entire cross.
Let’s synthesize the general energies a little:
MARS: Energy, action LIBRA: Peace, harmony
22 Apr – 19:28____MAR SQ JUP An objectionable reaction toward laws, beliefs or philosophies
23 Apr – 07:09___MAR OPP URA The inclination to purposely contradict others
MARS + JUP/URA = the tendency to react angrily and with obstinate objection against the prevailing belief system
23 Apr – 13:51____MAR SQ PLU The will to get what one wants by any means, including force or brutality
MARS + URA/PLU = Sudden outbursts of anger and violent activity in protest to corruption, or violence against protesters by corrupt powers.
So what do we expect to see here? With Mars in detriment in the sign of Libra the expected anger and violence will be directed more as a peacekeeping measure than anything. But the intellectual prowess and tendency for Mars in Libra to become outspoken about any injustice, without regard for any consequences sets the scene here for some pretty energised protests against corrupt media reports and inequitable social laws. Will people come out onto the streets? Depends on whether they’re in the mood. Can they be bothered for a revolution?
Or will they do it via Twitter? The moon moves into Aquarius, and by Thursday triggers the midpoint of all these energies, particularly the revolutionary Uranus/Pluto square, so don’t be surprised if there is a sudden, unexpected mass uprising somewhere. People are pretty pissed in plenty of places right now. In fact it’s a wonder that they’re keeping so calm and peaceful. Perhaps we have evolved to a state of maturity where these things don’t need to become physically violent, we have the internet now and sometimes that can have enough impact if enough people get behind a cause which is worthwhile…
So many major issues have been milling in the works now these last two years.
Our governments are unable to wield enough power to convincingly inspire and lead us confidently, our industries are slowly losing our support as they become either increasingly more controlling or fall away into practical obsolessence, religions are failing to guide us by example, and corporations are increasingly becoming totalitarian monsters that threaten to swallow us all up.
It seems that our own planet earth is suffering from a lack of inspired leadership, someone that can unanimously draw people’s hope and spirit of community towards a common ideal. Is this quality really present at all these days, where technology has given us all the information and an equal voice, but has been unsuccessful in convincing us to act with some conviction?
But what to act upon? The more intelligent people are full of doubts. Scientifically and mathematically things are simply not adding up. The rising issues of world poverty, hunger and water shortages are the main symptom of an exponential rise in world population, particularly in the developing nations, where the spread of infectious diseases is also on the rise.
Climate change due to global warming seems now like a runaway cart that is increasing with speed and force, while inversely our increasing reliance on oil and gas to power our transportation and energy needs is only adding to the environmental harm. China and India’s growing demand for fossil fuel and derivative products is also placing strain on the decreasing supply by oil producing countries.
Looming global economic collapse is imminent with many experts predicting that we are on the brink of an economic depression. Several European nations are currently struggling to stay afloat with massive unemployment and increasingly austere living conditions. Political unrest continues to grind within the population of people who feel hopeless and repressed by their state. The United States, by far the world’s largest economy is seriously in debt at personal, institutional and governmental levels, and the collapse of the US dollar seems imminent with the all but deflated value of the housing market.
International terrorism, particularly by Islamic extremist groups continues to be an ever present threat. The proliferation of weapons of mass destruction is still a serious concern with renegade nations and groups. Those who are intent on using these hold the potential to lead to an all-out war of catastrophic proportions. Armed conflict continues to plague fringe nations as the US and allies still continue to play world police.
These issues continue to fester, despite seemingly laying dormant in the recent months.
Species extinction, particularly of our fish, is perhaps the most overlooked problem for this planet. Rising sea temperatures which reduces the the ability of plankton to reproduce is threatening to undermine our entire oceanic ecosystem, and our commercial greed for fish will slowly empty our oceans of fish within the next 2-3 decades. Modern agricultural practices are destroying our soil and wiping many forms of life that exist as part of sustainable ecosystems on our lands. Our bee population, responsible for pollinating over 70% of our food supplies, is also slowly dwindling.
What hurts us most is that the mainstream media is almost concertedly working against exposing and keeping us informed of efforts to deal with any of the big issues. Can it be that today’s investigative journalists have lost the passion or courage to explore? Why are editors choosing to ignore? Why is our attention is being diverted away from these sore points on a daily basis? We are being distracted by smoke and mirrors of inane news and infomercials in the guise that we are being kept in the loop of the daily pulse.
Why is the disappearance of an international airliner in a day and age where anything is trackable to the minutest position (such as my lost iPhone) not seen as ludicrously insidious? Why is this missing plane not being treated as a serious case of mass-murder?
Why are we being so seriously let down by those who ought to be a voice for us?
Sunday 20th April:
As Retrograde Mars closes within one degree of the Grand Cross, let’s have a quick look at the activity forming the backdrop of this powerful harmonic.
Time for a bit of analysis & synthesis:
JUPITER: Law, religion, higher mind URANUS: Rebellion, revolution, sudden change PLUTO: Powerful, invisible forces
CANCER: Security ARIES: Anger, storming action CAPRICORN: Fear
Exacting transits next 24-48 hours
20 Apr – 07:24___ JUP SQ URA Obstinate resistance to counsel, support, media and for no rational reason, just ‘because’ (to be contrary).
20 Apr – 22:53___JUP OPP PLU Realization of manipulative control of popular media, law and religion by plutocrats and powerful individuals
21 Apr – 00:33___Capricorn MOON conjunct PLUTO – Public mood goes dark, heavy, edging for change…. (beware of episodes of rage).
21 Apr – 18:12____URA SQ PLU Tension builds as deeper insights into corrupt activity by rich and powerful individuals adds further to mass dissent against governing bodies (this is the fifth & arguably the most potent of these squares to date).
URA (Aries) + PLU (Capricorn) + JUP (Cancer) = Angry dissent and obstinate resistance towards those in power who have been exposed to be corruptly manipulating the media, church and elements of the judicial system to spread fear and insecurity among the masses.
One manifestation of this combination of planets is here.
In the coming 48 hours we shall track these aspects more closely. I urge you all to look for examples in your own experience where fear is being pressed upon your own sense of security and your tendency to react with angry dissent. Please share your feedback below or on today’s C*I*A Facebook link.
The above combination just sets the stage for Mars, who will trigger the action when he completes the final arm of this cross in the next 48-72 hours.
Saturday 19th April:
Quick astrology lesson about squares:
There is a natural antipathy between the signs where two planets may form square (90°) aspects between one another. Not only is their polarity opposing but their elements simply do not accord. The only thing they have in common is their modality, and herein lies the root of the tension. For example, Aries is a positive fire sign, of the cardinal modality. Cancer is a negative water sign, also cardinal.
Cardinals want to initiate, to lead. And since in square aspect they refuse to lead in any way that each other can relate to, the result is a conflict of interest and style. This amounts to nothing less than a heated disagreement upon which initiative is best. At worst this tension could escalate into a full scale effort of one trying to wipe the other out.
There are four planets involved in this Grand Cross. Each forms a square aspect to two others. In total there are four potential squabbles, and this is not even taking into account the two opposition (180°) aspects with another.
In other words, we have a potential gunfight down at the OK.
Right now Jupiter is closing in on the first square alignment, with Uranus. These two planets, as discussed in yesterday’s entry (or ‘Astrology for Dummies’) are about to clash. How will it look?
Well, in any case there is a very sudden escalation in conflict. Nothing is as quick to spark into assault as an Aries planet, and with Uranus in this sign he packs a most technologically advanced form of weaponry. Whether it’s with super- hi-tech gadgetry, or his own phenomenally advanced intellect, he comes across like some erratic cosmic juggernaut warrior who threatens to zap us with a profound jolt upon our being, where we each feel most comfortably settled. Talk about your live wires… And he cares not how you feel. About nothing, Nothing but one thing, that is… being a presence, in his most authentic sense, right here, right now. And you had better receive him, or he”ll give it to you anyway.
Jupiter in Cancer just wants to get along with whom he already knows and trusts, those who are more like his kind. But he sees Aries as a bit of a spoiler because in Cancer everything must form a familiar bond, and there nothing familiar or warming about some freak who is hellbent on being revolting with both his ideas and his conduct.
Jupiter tries hard to reconcile the wildness.
Uranus insists on being unrestrained by any crusty, old-fashioned code of conduct, and attempts to perform an update on the Jupiterian operating system which seems to still be running with original hardware.
Jupiter sees Uranus as an infantile, disengaged, android-phone-clutching, Twitter-blurting, sound-bite-toting, facebook-meming, trouble making brat.
Uranus may have issues with Jupiter. These will build up quite suddenly and blow up just as dramatically. Essentially it is about an urge to reject and overthrow any toxic sentimental attachments to any antiquated traditions, customs and beliefs. The ubiquitous spread of personal gadgets and radical new ideas about our individual rights for freedom means our social interaction is becoming quickly depersonalised, and aloof.
As Uranus also closes to square with Pluto, we can see that this theme of disengaging humans from their humanity is becoming a necessary step in dealing with the increasing social pressures presented by Pluto in Capricorn.
Friday 18th April:
Jupiter in Cancer:
Jupiter: Big fat ball of exuberant energy that wants to reach out, understand and integrate everything into a general belief system.
Cancer: Crabby little bugger that likes to stick close to home and familiar turf, touchy and all personal-like, especially when it comes to people poking at him with a stick. Got big claws and gets clingy if he manages to make a clutch.
Jupiter in Cancer: Big fat crabby bugger who wants to reach out and make everything familiar, clutches immediately onto anything he can get his mighty pincers on and wants to integrate it all into his home, make it a big part of his extended happy congregation of faithful disciples and will readily get protective, even narky and defensive if anyone tries to threaten his domain, which in his case is considerably larger than that of your usual, run-of-the-mill crustacean next door.
Uranus in Aries:
Uranus: Whacko anarchic freakazoid with an advanced degree in electronics, computer science and Star-Trek historian who has always been awkward around members of the opposite sex.
Aries: Get out of my way!
Uranus in Aries: Get out of my way or I will zap you in your third eye with my emergatron gun.
Two planets in Square Aspect:
Planet 1) “Fuck you”
Planet 2) “No, fuck you”
Jupiter in Cancer Squaring Uranus in Aries:
(Tomorrow. Stay tuned)
Thursday 17th April:
Mars is the fastest moving of the four planets in this Grand Cross. His retrograde motion brings him slowly towards 13° 35′ Libra. By the time the other, heavier, outer planets have exactly posited around this degree (Pluto is already there) they would have each exactly aspected each other en route .
Let’s have a look at the procession of aspects in this 3 day period: Times are in UT/GMT zone.
JUP SQ URA – 13° 29′ – 20 Apr – 07:24
JUP OPP PLU – 13° 34′ – 20 Apr – 22:53
MOON AT 13° 34 CAPRICORN – 21 Apr – 00:33
URA SQ PLU – 13° 34′ – 21 Apr – 18:12
MAR SQ JUP – 13° 49′ – 22 Apr – 19:28
MAR OPP URA – 13° 39′ – 23 Apr – 07:09
*GRAND CROSS – 13° 36’30” – 23 Apr – 10:30
MAR SQ PLU – 13° 34′ – 23 Apr – 13:51
This, in fact makes Mars the trigger puller in this 4th harmonic syndrome, the most tense of syndromes, because it involves no less than four squares and two oppositions at once. Mars is the last to align and being the closest planet to earth we feel his energy more immediately and we all relate with his energy more readily. Jupiter in next in his immediacy among us, yet he is felt by fewer people as he connects mostly with the well-to-do, the cultured and the educated, the wealthy and religious, the fortunate and free. Fewer still can immediately connect to the outer planets Uranus and Pluto. We regard these as somewhat extremist, yet how odd that since even before the first Uranus/Pluto squares in 2012, we have become a little accustomed to seeing extreme behaviour in the world around us, perhaps even sensing this within ourselves.
Uranus energy is mostly attributed to the reformers, the mad professors and inventive-minded. The truly eccentric and unusual types who we dare not even try to understand, let alone get near enough to relate to. Yet in today’s melee, they are the revolutionary and rebellious, who will not stand to be repressed, oppressed or depressed. They will be radically themselves.
The Pluto people are almost unreachable, just like the planet himself. These are the magicians, the influential, the powerful in politics and crime. They are extremely wealthy or extremely sinister. They are quite rare to see because their nature requires that they remain hidden from daily life.
In the coming days, we will explore firsthand how the Grand Cross energies interact with one another as we track Mars’ fall into this cosmic melee. How we each identify with these energies depends largely upon how aware we are of our own place in this universe.
Wednesday 16th April:
In Australia the Mercury/Uranus conjunction of the last couple of days has delivered a head on stick, very publicly. It was revealed that NSW premier (state governor) Barry O’Farrell has been caught out receiving a very expensive bottle of wine from a lobbyist and party benefactor Nick Di Girolamo. After denying the original claim, a very damning ‘thank you’ letter to Nick from Barry left the scoundrel no choice but to come clean and fall on his sword. Strangely the Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott only gave praise to Barry’s “integrity” for taking the noble action of resigning… how admirable of the premier [sigh].
This is the classic play of Pluto in Capricorn, mentioned below a couple of days ago. The corrupt wearing a slick business suit, in a position of prestige and honour (Barry O’Farrell oddly was a champion of anti-corruption and made his name as a crusader of corruption against the opposition party years earlier. Until this revelation Barry had a reputation of being ‘Mr. Squeaky Clean’). Strangely the Prime Minister, known himself to be a relentless attack dog on all things untoward in politics, tried to play the whole thing down by suggesting the great Barry was “innocently forgetful” and this sort of thing does tend to happen when you’re powerful and popular, that you often receive large tributes and forget you accepted them and who gave. Hmm… [sigh]
So the Pluto (‘power corrupts’), which has now stationed and ready to roll retrograde at 13° 35′ Capricorn (paternal authority) has taken a direct hit from a squaring (conflicted) Uranus/Mercury (shocking message) for receiving ‘gifts’ from party faithful (Jupiter in Cancer). The defense is to first deny, then promptly resign (Mars in Libra) Nice… see?.. this stuff writes itself!
What all this reveals though, and what we are waking up to daily now, is that it all stinks… all of it. Governments are full of corruption, it’s endemic. There are no exceptions. Clearly the system of control is a sham and pretty soon, even in a ‘squeaky clean’ country like Australia, there is no way a bipartisan system of rule is going to adequately keep a rapidly informed population appeased that it is acting on behalf of its people. It is apparent that these ‘puppets’ are merely the instrument of a much greater force, serving only the corrupt powerful magnates who use lobbyists and other criminals to manipulate those in public positions of power…
We are seriously only days away from a greater awakening… can anyone see what this is?
Tuesday 15th April:
For those not aware, there is a Full Moon at the moment, in the form of a Total Lunar eclipse. For those who have not read my article on this special phenomenon and what it implies please link here.
There is a lot going on in the Aries/Libra axis at the moment, and I can make it sound as scary and confronting as you like, but the ultimate truth is that it’s ultimately all for our own good, and no-matter which side you favour, Aries or Libra, there are no winners or losers until we find a way to reconcile the two sides – the storming, hasty will to act, versus the laid back, contemplative, complacent, indecisive and politically correct.
Both sides are reaching crisis point soon, although these are the themes we have been facing personally for several months now with Mars opposing Uranus. More on these two point tomorrow, for now, enjoy the moon in all its glory.
Monday 14th April :
As Mercury approaches its conjunction to Uranus, we begin to feel the quickening of insights that now funnel into this plane of existence that we all share as conscious humans. In Aries, the rapacity and forcefulness to assert our message, the irrepressible blast of insight that must be immediately expressed as if nothing else matters will be seen in the next few days. Mercury will zap past Uranus who is also lining up to square off against the fat, controlling, corporate banking super-pontiff, Pluto. In true messenger style, Mercury is assigned with the task of delivering the WORD, and since he also must square past Pluto and later Jupiter and Mars, we will watch closely to see how this message will be received. A great example of Mercury/Uranus in Aries is this guy
Here on earth, we best observe ourselves. We can be quite offensive in our own transmission of our “word”. Just as Guttenberg’s printing press was revolutionary in the 16th century, today we are at the dawn of internet enlightenment, which will remove the cloud of ignorance held by academic and media gatekeepers. Education and media can be a form of mass mind control, and it’s astonishing that today we are fed all sorts of information that we must one day essentially oppose because it is oppressive, repressive or depressive. So our retort, with Mercury now triggering Uranus will be provocative. It may fly thick and fast and it may shock and enlighten, but so much adversity may follow because it goes against the grain of those who seek to maintain institutional control over us.
Thus starts the frenetic pace towards some sort of revolution, even if this revolution is only in the mind and not necessarily out in the streets.
(speaking of streets, just a word to the wise, and the formula-one-type-guys… be mindful on the roads during these transits)
Sunday 13th April
…more on Pluto:
On a personal level Pluto represents the deep desire to change and evolve into something higher. Of course, this interpretation and the way it is expressed will vary according to each individual’s stage of evolutionary development, but with Pluto in Capricorn the desire to accede into something else, something higher, will encounter the archetypal challenges of oppression, repression, depression and suppression. whether these are experienced by ourselves or we inflict these upon others. The word ‘should’ is the operative word here, a word that Capricorn needs to unlearn in his quest to transform into a higher plane of individual evolutionary consciousness.
Since we are all experiencing the pressures of Capricorn through the collective transformational force of Pluto, we are all bound to face challenges through conflicts emerging from being deeply enmeshed in all the mechanisms of institutional politics (church, government, corporation, etc.). These are the core issues that Pluto in Capricorn brings to the battleground during this Grand Cross.
Saturday 12th April
OK, time for a bit of groundwork for the big event:
If the exact degree of the Cardinal Cross is very close to 13° 35′ (ARIES/CANCER/LIBRA/CAP), then Pluto is already there now. The dark prince, whose movement is the slowest of all the planets, is almost at a halt and will turn retrograde only moments after the total lunar eclipse this Tuesday, 15th April. We could not expect any more suspense leading into this complex from the ruler of the underworld.
Pluto rules breakdown and decay, death and regeneration and any deep process of transformation. Because of its slow movement he affects us over long, drawn out periods and usually impacts entire generations.
In mundane astrology he rules corruption, crime, powerful secret societies, plutocrats and sociopaths as well as phsychotherapists and controlling svengali types. Most of these will perform their activity in slow, discrete and deliberate, subversive ways.
During his transit through Capricorn he may present himself in a slick business suit, as the ‘pillar of society’, a corporate powerbroker or a major investor, a truly stern paternal figure whose charismatic intensity is unquestionable and whose reputation seems unquestionable due to his demonstrated climb through the conventional career path as he advances into positions of wealth and power.
Friday 11th April
Like yesterday, Uranus still holds midpoint focus from both the critical Jupiter/Pluto opposition and the Sun/Mercury combinations. This combination of four planetary influences funneling through neuro-spastic Uranus continues to unleash his brand of shocking mayhem into our world (see your local news service for the latest on these).
“Remain calm” is the modus operandi for now, but how easy to become suddenly excited by the impulse to react in nervous haste, panic, irritability, horror, etc. and in one split second create an incident which may be impossible to recover from. Avoid these by staying mindful of the propensity to suddenly ‘wigging out’ (meditation helps). Also remain mindful of the environmental conditions and avoid entering into hazardous or precarious situations. Avoid confrontations with persons whom you suspect may cause erratic outcomes. Breakages are almost unfixable, so ‘PREVENTION’ is preferable to impossible ‘DAMAGE CONTROL’ at this time.
Mars continues to retrograde away from the Sun, but the opposition is still in close orb, so angry or heated confrontations with authorities are still likely. Do not attempt to outdo the authority figure, he (she) rules, and will not hesitate to strike under current conditions. with the asteroid Juno conjuncting the Sun, that authority may well come from within the marriage or a significant personal relationship.
Thursday 10th April 2014
As vacillating Mars in Libra leaves his dressing down opposition encounter with the formidable Aries Sun, he is charged with instruction that indecision and indolence just will not stand – he needs to take action! The fiery planet now begins to head retrograde back toward the 13° Cardinal, the degree where the other three power planets (Uranus, Jupiter, Pluto) will form a GRAND CROSS on April 23rd.
At present a barnstorming Uranus in Aries is recklessly splicing the Jupiter/Pluto opposition directly halfway, as they each slowly approach the 13° Cardinal degree of their respective signs. This causes upset and tumult in people’s plans for advancement (in any business, political enterprise or personal agenda); creates unusual, exceptional situations which are difficult to manage; aggravates individuals to rebel strongly against any personal constriction/relationship expectations/society pressure. Most markedly, we begin to see discontented individuals begin to form an ever-growing clique of similarly influential friends...
The Uranus arm is most potent right now…. are you feeling the agitation, aloofness, disrespect and insolence, extremity of unexpected actions around you?
