The Sun , Moon and Earth join forces to create  an eclipsed moment for the  inhabitants of Planet Earth. This is the time to face our collective shadow. The eclipse takes place in the information and truth seeking signs of Sagittarius and Gemini: what we know, what we don’t know what we should know and what we think we know about everything comes to the forefront. It does get confusing sometimes. I think Sagittarius can be as obsessive as Scorpio if it wants to work something out. So antidote: don’t force the issues, wait for  “A HA” moments and epiphanies to guide you. Clearing your mind, shutting off for a while helps to clear space and make room for revelations. Switching off is hard do do, but  important if you’re feeling a bit stressed and overanxious, a good remedy. Switch off the TV, FB, You tube, Twitter and all your electronic social support systems and sit and face the truth all on your own. Eclipses can make us feel very isolated as we drift into self reflection.

Get out to nature if possible and refresh,  as this eclipse is squared by Ceres at 19 Pisces this goddess asteroid represents the great mother, the one who takes care of the flourishing of life on Earth. Are our lives flourishing, stagnant or controlled? Ceres fights for what is rightfully hers and we see many disruptions again on the world stage. She demands justice, peace and equality. This eclipse is tied into the rising rebellious spirit, the key signature of 2011.  Remembering that for the Aries ingress 2011, Uranus was at zero Aries, could we expect anything less?

The world’s gone Demo Crazy – in its focus to return to real Democracy, fighting for justice and what it believes in. How Sagittarian is that?

Mercury is still retrograde but begins to move forward a few days after the eclipse. It will then retrace its path for the 3^rd time . This creates a hot spot from 3 degrees to 19 Sagittarius, and is a lead up to 2012, as Mercury returns to 19 Sag on Jan 1^st 2012 and the eclipse degree of 18 Sagittarius will be activated until the next eclipse in May 2012. That will occur at 0 Gemini, conjunct the fixed Star Alcyone and just a few days before Venus turns retrograde in the same sign. There’s a lot of Gemini/Sagittarius energy needing to be integrated.

The North Node is still at 14 degrees, the same area as the Great Attractor . What are we attracted to?  Venus is inconjunct the Moon at 150 degrees, an aspect not wanting to be seen, but percolating strongly. The Moon and Venus in these two signs indicate a dire need for deeper understanding of what we want and what we don’t want and how best to communicate what we feel is right or wrong. The world’s value system is up for review in many ways and we the 99% are leading the way in our global transformation.

Around 18 degrees of mutable signs form a potent area of the zodiac as we look into 2012. Firstly, the Venus transit will occur on June 5/6 at 15 Gemini, the last transit in 2004 was at 17 Gemini. Have we noticed that the world is now socially network obsessed?   So much has been achieved with the twitters moving through the ethers, but are we now being alerted to the fact that it really won’t change as much as we’d  like or as much as we expect?  With Ceres activating this eclipse in the sign of Pisces, collective change will take more effort, passion and compassion than just typing on our keyboards. Mars too squares the nodes of the eclipse a sure sign that the right or wrong actions will help fix  or accentuate the many problems brewing.  The Venus transits of 2004 and 2012 squared and will square the Pluto Uranus conjunction point of 1965-66 (16 and 17 Gemini) and as we know the current Pluto Uranus square in Capricorn  and Aries perfects twice  in 2012 (June and September). The 9/11 disaster rears it’s ugly head again here too, as the Sun on that date was at 18 Virgo,  with Pluto and Saturn both at 14 Gemini and Sagittarius. Will we be further illuminated on what really happened there over the next 6 months or so?  Let us not forget what continues to haunt many about this event, as we try and grapple with the immense powers of the powers that be in governments and secret agencies and conspiring media  conglomerates around the world who continue to mislead us with all sorts of propaganda.

There does seem to be a build up and Uranus now stations to turn direct after 5 and a half months retrograde. Things will appear to speed up and the changes we’ve been working on will take on momentum. The big shift is well and truly underway and there is no going back.

Capricorn, the tenth sign of the zodiac, is of the cardinal mode, meaning that it represents a principle of activity, initiative and commencement of a new process; and being of the earth element, its field of operations is the World, the consensus reality that we all agree upon because it can’t be ignored.  Capricorn asks:  what is the real, unvarnished truth about reality, and how can we utilize these features of the world for our benefit?  What structures are required to provide a stable base for sustainable development?  Which difficulties are the result of our personal inadequacies, and hence can be remedied by experience and guidance, and which problems derive from environmental limitations?

Looking at the chart for the solstice moment, we can see that the Sun closely squares Uranus (within 42 minutes of arc) and trines Jupiter (within 23 minutes of arc).  It is also in sextile aspect to Chiron (orb of 1º29’), Neptune (orb of 1º21’) and Saturn (orb of 2º24’).  And it is conjunct Pluto (orb of 6º59’).

The trine to Jupiter is strengthened by the fact that Jupiter is almost stationary in the sky, about to end its period of retrograde motion and will in fact go direct 4 days later on 26 December 2011.  This close and beneficial trine in earth signs suggests some optimism that material or financial conditions may improve.  There may be a sense that progress is possible now, that opportunities may arise which are capable of delivering real results.  The square to Uranus, however, spells plenty more disruption on the way, as the drastic changes of iconoclastic and revolutionary ideas continue to challenge the status quo.  The coming quarter may develop this theme of authenticity to ideals of freedom and individual liberty in the face of a sense of unstoppable corporate/state plunder:  as the next installment of the disaster capitalism war machine rolls on and the great game for world resource extraction and profiteering continues headlong over the cliff of ecological, historical and spiritual blindness.

The Sun is still with Pluto at this quarter-point (just as it has been every solstice and equinox for the last 5 years or so, whether by conjunction, opposition or square aspect) – which reflects the tremendous sense of crisis into which the world has descended in recent years, and as Pluto slowly moves through Capricorn over the next decade or so, more and more corporate, legal and social institutions will crumble as their foundations in an exploitative as opposed to a participatory view of the world, increasingly disintegrate.

The Sun’s sextile relationships with the Saturn/Neptune trine in late Libra/Aquarius as well as to Chiron in early Pisces, is a reminder of the need for faith in a better world.  There is nothing wrong with having ideals of a better system of international justice (whether this be economic, ecological or political) even if we may still feel disillusioned with systems generally.  While there may be some truth to the notion that everything seems to be falling apart, that nobody trusts anyone any more, that there seems to be a distinct lack of vision amongst our leaders and an enormous sense of cynicism about any attempt to engineer large-scale solutions to planetary problems, it is vital that we don’t let this develop into a sneering repudiation of any movements that make genuine efforts to engage people in a discourse about the big and difficult truths about the current predicament – whether it be the facts about climate change, about the extent of the radioactive leak and generational damage at Fukushima, or about the widespread popular view that casino capitalism has destroyed the fabric of human community and that better alternatives are available.  There is hope, there is a future for us, but with the Sun in Capricorn we must remember that we all bear a responsibility to bring it into being.

The Moon is in Scorpio, applying by square to Neptune:  it doesn’t matter how strongly we want to believe that we will be comforted by our real or archetypal parents (the government, our employers, political saviours, gurus, celebrities) – faith must come from within.  If we passionately nurture those around us, engage in development of human relationships of trust and mutual value, we may as a group move some way towards providing that existential relief to each other and forging lasting connections in the process.  Turning resentment into love, Scorpio performs its magic and transformation follows.

Venus, in the second degree of Aquarius, has just passed the exact square to Jupiter, and sextile to Uranus.  This emphasizes social relationship, what is of value in the collectivity of human experience – and this is not individual profit-seeking at the expense of the group.  There is nothing wrong with being successful of course but this Venus placement challenges Jupiter in Taurus to share the wealth – not with one other person with whom one has a special (e.g. contractual) relationship, or with one’s family – but with humanity, society, the group.  Equally, Jupiter in Taurus provides real resources to back up the more intellectual and principled views of an Aquarian Venus, giving foundation and solidity to them, so long as the commitment to work together is honoured.

This coming quarter, Mars will turn retrograde on 24 January (at 23º Virgo) and will remain in backwards motion until 13 April, when it turns direct again (at 3º Virgo).  At this Capricorn solstice, Mars is at 17º Virgo, so it is in the middle of the ‘shadow’ period of its upcoming retrograde loop.  When Mars goes retrograde (every 2 years) it is a good time to review how we engage with the world to achieve our desires, how we initiate action, compete, expend energy and how we choose and fight our battles (with ourselves as much as with others).  Being in Virgo, we need to keep an eye on the need for discernment in all our actions and dealings – observation and preparation, critical examination including self-examination, attention to health and efficiency, focus on detail.

This Capricorn solstice, focus your intentions on a world where limits and boundaries are respected by everyone, not evaded by a privileged few; where resources are utilized intelligently for the benefit of future generations, not just ourselves; and where participation with each other and with our environment transforms exploitation into a social and planetary responsibility to tend and care for our World.

2012 – The first 3 months

This video’s message, resonates strongly with that of Neptune’s ingress to Pisces. This is the philosophy/mindset that will change the world as we know it. Each of Neptune’s ingresses into Pisces in recent history, there has been a shift in our world view…. a paradigm shift that becomes the driving force behind the collective consciousness. More about this can be read in Julija, Agent 12’s write up on Neptune in Pisces. Personally I have been wondering what this might look like this time round. Neptune moved into Pisces in April this year and Julija (a paradigmologist if ever there was one!) , in tune with the zeitgeist, has nailed the next big shift for us.
In September this year a group of C*I*A agents and stargazers gathered in Central Australia for the inaugural C*I*A star camp…what a blast by the way…now I realise that we were engaging in the collective zeitgeist and adding to the great paradigm shift as well as thoroughly enjoying ourselves.

If you have watched the clip (and why wouldn’t you if control advises!) with Paul Hawken, author of Blessed Unrest , you will know that the primary origins of the spontaneous movement that is reshaping our reality are the environmental movement, the social justice movement and INDIGENOUS CULTURE. Hawken states emphatically that humanity’s salvation lies in diversity…that no ism or ology alone can save us or the planet.

We see the 99% Occupy movement growing around the globe. Critics complain that the participants are too vague. This is a typical argument from the dominant strata of society…from the masculine perspective that gives us multinational corporations, stock markets , armies, wars and governments of oppression. The 99% are amorphous and rightly so …we bring a feminine perspective to the current debate. It is through this and NOW that we are changing the mindset. C*I*A is right in there.

At the C*I*A star camp, participants were privileged to spend time with 2 senior ARRERNTE women: Margaret Kemarre Turner OAM and Doris Stuart. These two remarkable women engaged in cross cultural dialogue with star campers. All who participated found these conversations and experiences to be deeply moving and eye opening. Many have continued the conversations back in their own families, workplaces and communities. This is the intertwining, morphing and enlarging process that Hawken refers to in his book.

As many take on the call to change their lives, to finally act on all those things that they have been wanting to do, it seems the energy of the Uranus Pluto square gains momentum all around us. The OWS movement, the uprisings in the Arab world and now Russia, the shaky global economy and the threatened capitalist system all seem to reflect the potent Uranus Pluto archetype,  but also seem very much tuned into  the shift of  Regulus into the sign of Virgo opposite Neptune.  The focus on greed , money and power now shifts to efficiency, resourcefulness and an underlying need to protect the planet. Everyone is being called to take up the task to sift the wheat from the chaff and contribute to building a healthier planet, somehow.

Astrologers consult ingress charts to glean the flavour of the year or months ahead, so for a look at the first 3 months of 2012 we look at the Capricorn Ingress chart for December 22 UTC, 2011(See Agent37′s article on the Capricorn Ingress). As with every ingress of the Sun to a cardinal point, for the past few years  since Pluto’s ingress into Capricorn in 2008 , Pluto while hovering in these early degrees of Capricorn has  squared, opposed or been conjunct the Sun at these quarterly turning points. As Uranus reached the cardinal point of zero Aries in mid 2010 and now in 2011, we have seen and felt its influence strongly. It’s as if everyone suddenly woke up and things have been radically changing ever since. As 2011 has shown, the mould has been broken, many uprisings, radical world shaping events have been moving us toward inevitable global shifts. 2012 starts with Uranus at Zero Aries Point and continues to be the leader in the zodiac for many years until Neptune shifts to Aries in 2026.

For the Solstice chart all planets are moving direct except for Jupiter, which will station to move direct on 26^th December.  For 3 weeks following all planets will be moving direct. On the 1/1/2012 Mercury  moves out of its shadow phase at 19 Sagittarius (from its last retrograde), an indicator or a window of opportunity perhaps to move forward and get on with it. What a great start for all those New Years resolutions. Mars in Virgo will break the momentum when it will turn retrograde on 23^rd January, coinciding with Chinese New Year, a  New Moon in Aquarius and the entrance of the Year of the Dragon.

The Year of the Dragon and 2012 coincides also with what is known as the “Return of Quetzalcoatl”, (1)a Mesoamerican supreme deity, a feathered serpent, who represents the union of spirit and matter. Quetzalcoatl was known to live around 400BCE in  Teotihuacán. He left this world, because of its corruption and  demise and also because he saw himself as a key figure in this corruption. Quetzalcoatl, said he would return when the world had changed for the better. This Mesoamerican High Priest was highly revered and was said to represent Venus as a morning Star.  His twin brother Xolotl  represented the evening star. Like many cultures around the world, to the Mesoamericans Venus’s movements were closely followed, her rising out of the Suns’ beams as a morning star formed the beginning of her cycle and the Mayan Tzolkin, based on a 9 month calendar of 20 days x 13 months 260 days. Venus, and her glyph, the Circle of Spirit on top of the Cross of Matter, are strongly attuned to the same meaning of Quetzalcoatl, blending Spirit and Matter and the twins represent Gemini. Venus will make her transit across the Sun in June 2012 in the sign of Gemini.

Venus seems ever more significant in 2012 when we consider the Venus retrograde period coming up in May 2012 and the transit in June and the degrees of Gemini at which they happen. The degree of the station of Venus to go retrograde is 23 Gemini, Uranus was discovered on March 13th 1781 at 24 Gemini. Also the Uranus Pluto conjunction of 1965 and 1966 happened at 17 and 16 Virgo square to the degree of the occulatation degree. Venus totally tuned to the Zeitgeist of 2012.

Another important Mesoamerican connection and 2012 is the creation myth of fall of Seven Macaw which stems from the Popol Vuh. The story  tells of the fall of Seven Macaw, a corrupt and greedy ruler who has ruled the last age of Man  and is avenged by the twin sons of One Hunaphu a Sun God. One Hunaphu is then replaced on his throne as the rightful ruler of the next coming age. This myth resonates powerfully with the rebirth of the solstice Sun on the solstice date 21-12 12 – and has been extensively written about and researched over the last few decades.  These are all metaphors representing a Rebirth of  human consciousness. This shift also strongly coincides with Regulus, star of Kings moving to Virgo around 2012. (2)

History became Legend, Legend became Myth.(2) Our connection to universal myths and archetypes continues to guide our journey forward.

The Year of the Dragon begins on the 23rd January always indicated by the 13th New Moon Moon of the year in the Chinese calendar and the reason that Chinese New Year varies. The last Dragon year being in the year 2000, another year associated with celebrating the end and the beginning, as does the symbol of the Ouroboros, an ancient symbol depicting a Serpent /Dragon eating it’s own tail. The Ouroboros is the representation of the perpetual cyclic renewal of life and in Astrology known as the Dragon’s Head and the Dragon’s tail depicted by the karmic North and South Node. On the day of the New Moon at 2 Aquarius,  Venus squares these nodes and indicates the need for all of us to sharpen up our act, it’s going to be a wild ride as she is in Pisces, exhausting, exhilarating and intense as she sex-tiles that Pluto. Jupiter at 1 degree of Taurus waits for Neptune to get into Pisces as he squares the New Moon. Why? Because the challenge is to believe in a better way, an enlightened new way forward. Mercury on this day is trine to Mars who’s “mission impossible” is about to start as he stations himself at 23 Virgo to move retrograde til  14 April.

As most of the people in the world don’t follow Astrology,  Ingress charts or celebrate the natural Wheel of the Year, most do however stay attuned to the beginning of a year. We follow a Gregorian calendar if we like it or not, so our New Year starts on 1/1/2012. I have chosen a chart for  the 1/1/12 00:00 am at Caroline Atoll – Kiribati , the first land mass to get the first daylight on the planet after the clock turns 00:00 at the international date line.

Significantly the Moon and Uranus are both at zero Aries, new beginnings of a collective kind. The Moon relates to the people, what we sense and how we feel. It seems we are all restless, unsure, yet spirited and ready for change. Moon Uranus aspects shake us up, taking away any certainty that we may have and any concepts of  feeling safe and secure. Instead we are being asked to feel safe in our insecurities. What? Yes Moon and Uranus are extreme opposites. In the end Moon / Uranus aspects are liberating, freeing and enlightening as we shake away past habits and what we have been depending on. We have outgrown many attachments, it is time to detach from the past and jump boldly into the future. With both Moon and Uranus in the sign of Aries, new beginnings await the warrior in all of us.

Next the Sun,  our shining light and guide, is conjunct Pluto, although the exact conjunction was two days before,  this Pluto Sun conjunction on the first day of the year has been getting closer and stronger over the past few years. With the Sun at 9 degrees Capricorn and Pluto at 7degrees at the start of 2012, this will now intensify with Pluto at 9 degrees and the Sun also at 9 on 1/1/13 and still aligned on this day into 2014 and 2015. This conjunction  is a potent indicator of the great shift in human consciousness, on a day when the past is left behind and we all move to symbolic fresh new starts. With Regulus opposite Neptune and the 7 looming Pluto Uranus exact squares  yet to come , 2012 seems like the beginning and a gateway to  much more.

On a mundane level the  Pluto/Sun combination has a direct impact on the many countries around the world who have their Sun around 9-10 Degrees of Capricorn. This includes Syria,  the  UK, Australia and others. The Sun also relates to heads of state, presidents and leaders and as we can see many Heads have been losing power and  control and will  continue to do so.

The year also begins with an ongoing Saturn Neptune trine, both at 28 degrees, Saturn in Libra and Neptune in Aquarius,  great co-ordinates  for  a promise of collective peace and justice.  Unfortunately they don’t stand alone. As the opposition between the two a few years ago, 2006- 2007 in Leo and Aquarius, heightened a sense in all of us that our collective dreams had become material,  the world had become driven by profits and greed as  prices and consumerism skyrocketed. We get a sense that now we are moving forward with that, where spirit and spirituality are considered a must in our survival , there is a great need to spiritualize a very material world and in the words of Charles Harvey – “materialise the spiritual”.

When Neptune moves to Pisces on Feb 4^th, Saturn turns retrograde in Libra only 2 days later at 29:30 degrees of Libra. It’s almost as though Saturn reneges in joining Neptune in the waters , just yet. Let Neptune sort out his domain first, thank the Goddess really, it may be all too much if it happened at once. Saturn will ingress into Scorpio on Oct 6^th 2012 and then both will be in the most passionately tuned signs and in water. This is an intense and highly passionate combination, where passions override sensibility and rationality. An almost “anything goes” attitude takes hold. Neptune has not entered water since its move through Scorpio in 1960’s and early 70’s. Think about the wild nature and uninhibited spirit that arose during this era, the music, the clothes, the drugs. Now Neptune, a boundless planet moves to an endless sign, Pisces, together they conjure up images of extremes, wildness, anything goes, giving much hope to changing many attitudes, breaking barriers as it goes, but also giving rise to many destructive “who cares”, sacrificial attitudes  and a possible spiralling into an abyss.  Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac and Neptune our furthest planet- together we are creating and germinating the seeds of the future.  Let us nurture those seeds and  regenerate the spirit of our collective human experience with peace, love,  compassion and wisdom.

During 2012 Mercury begins its retrograde cycles starting in Fire signs and ending in water signs. In March it begins a retrograde in Aries and moves back to Pisces. Then the next retrograde period begins in Leo and retrogrades back into Cancer, then Sagittarius and back to Scorpio. From fire, moving forward, we get caught up back in the water,  held up by the past. Indicators of perhaps a frustrating year with one step forward and two steps back. Not a sign of moving or leaping easily ahead. The transition to a new world as Uranus Moon in new year chart suggest, the ongoing  Pluto Sun alignments or the ongoing Uranus Pluto squares portend,  is a long process and definitely not completed in just 2012.

The first of these Mercury retrogrades starting on 14 March happens at the same time as  a grand earth trine alignment between a retro Mars in Virgo, Pluto in Capricorn and Venus conjunct Jupiter in Taurus all at 9 degrees of Earth signs. A sure sign of the shifts we are expecting taking hold . Jupiter and Venus together make a pretty picture in the evening sky, with Venus close to her maximum elongation east of the Sun at 46 degrees. After this max elongation Venus  begins to move back closer to the Sun where she is  most vulnerable and out of sorts, but this time she will be making her very rare occultation across the Sun.

Quite a magical combination returns with Jupiter in Taurus and Neptune in Pisces in February 2012. Taurus and Pisces are both Venusian signs by rulership and exaltation. These two planets first aspect each other by sextile when Neptune enters Pisces in early February, a quintile forms in late March, and the connection ends with a square in mid- June. This combination does not happen often, last time Neptune was in Pisces and Jupiter was in Taurus was 1857-58. Neptune and Jupiter travel well together, both attuned to expansive energy and in feminine signs bring with them a sense of reality merging with dreams and ideals coming together in a divine understanding. Let’s take this opportunity to channel some divinely inspired yet real outcomes.

Venus plays a central role in 2012 so consider the moving into 2012 as a time to reevaluate our connection of spirit to matter. As the glyph of Venus reminds us to contemplate what drives our material needs, our consciousness and how is it earthed? 2012 represents the end of the world as we know it, a dawn of a new awareness and a growing enthusiasm to return the world to be driven by the right Values. Our conscious evolution doesn’t happen by itself, or without us, with the right Values directing our way- forward 2012 is shaping up to be an important time in redirecting our common future. Let’s make the most of it.

The possibilities are endless, let’s keep not only the vision but the intentions strong.All the best to you all for a Great NEW YEAR!

Two eclipses while the Sun is in Sagittarius highlight the month. A Partial Solar Eclipse on  25th Nov is a New Moon at 2 Sagittarius and is part of the 18 year 11 day cycle of eclipses called the Saros series. A Saros series  groups eclipses into families, the last of this Saros family 123 occurred in Nov 1993 at 21 Scorpio. Another way of looking at full Moon and new Moon cycles is the Metonic cycle,  a nineteen year cycle, where we can determine that 19 years ago a new Moon happened at the exact same degree of the zodiac at 2 degrees Sagittarius on 25th Nov 1992, this however was not an eclipse.

This eclipse trines Uranus and  Mercury stations retrograde at 20 Sagittarius and moves back to 3 Sagittarius, to move forward again on 14 December. It seems change is called for, but not before a recall of some sort takes place. For many of us preparations are being made for 2012, as we get organize and make plans for the coming year. At this eclipse  Saturn trines Neptune, Venus sextiles Neptune and a grand earth trine between Pluto, Mars and Jupiter are good signals that whatever is being worked on now has a good chance of surviving and taking off, becoming something real, maybe by next March when the grand earth trine reforms. All seems quite favorable for getting ready for something new, bigger, better or just much more to your liking.

Remember the eclipse is in ExSagittarius and  Mercury in detriment reminds us to tone down a touch, (re)assessing the great leap forward comes with a bit of warning to not overdo it, but a tenacious keep at it attitude brings results.

On 28th November we also have Regulus the fixed star in the constellation Leo, shift over to Virgo. This a defining moment for the Age in which we live, as the world shifts gears in many ways.  Regulus only moves signs every 2160 years, but we can already sense how a shift in priorities is taking place. We only have to see how many leaders are falling and being replaced around the world at the moment, people demanding Real Democracy and not despotic rulers. Our new Kings/leaders better sharpen up their acts as the new standards of leadership are enforced by the people. Let’s support those in the Occupying movements around the globe as they are doing a service for all of us, even better go down and make your mark too, show your support. We stand by the 99%.

On December the 2nd Venus conjuncts Pluto in Capricorn,  watch the overspending, or just watch your wallet, money concerns may take over  for a spell. On a global scale the protest of the 99% may intensify as passions rise and people feel more compelled to act more intensely against injustice and corporate greed.  It’s also that pre Xmas- buying frenzy time, stuff the presents, think of giving to charity or the needy instead or to an influential movement that has aspirations to change the world for the better, even better join one. Be cautious on who or what your spending your money on. So much time and money is wasted year after year on useless presents not appreciated, nor cared for, a great time to consider waste and excess in our own homes and establishments.

A total lunar eclipse on the 10th Dec UT, at 18 Sagittarius near the Nodes(as all eclipses are) squares Mars. Mars in Virgo making a statement to clean up our acts before we move on. Sagittarius and Gemini highlight knowing and truth, learning and wisdom, the neighbourhood and the bigger picture. Gemini says act locally, Sagittarius says to think globally. A time to look to the future as we all grow closer to understanding that we are all one on this planet, sharing common goals and visions and that our future depends on it.  How do we play our part in the big clean up? How do we strive to keep cultural diversity flourishing  in a rapidly changing world that demands uniformity? Many questions- Gemini, yet there are many answers too, Sagittarius. We continue to seek answers, demand the truth strong Sagittarian qualities. Opening up to new ideas and concepts – Gemini, helps us to move forward, reminding ourselves we don’t know it all, Sagittarius.  To listen, to be wise, to seek the truth, to be aware and do something with what we know, is what Mars at the bendings during this eclipse motivates. It’s not a time to just take it how it is and expect things to change, it’s a time for action, challenging ourselves and moving out of the comfort zone.  The last time a Total Lunar eclipse happened at the same degree was part of the metonic cycle(not part of the same Saros family) back in Dec 1992. This is always a good way of  seeing how far we have come, or what may be similarly happening to us now, think back to Dec 1992 when the same eclipse at 18 Sag highlighted your world.

Sagittarius is complicated and hard to decipher as a constellation. It is seen to resemble a teapot. The brightest star in Sagittarius is Kaus Australis. Sagittarius is in the broadest part of the Milky Way and near its centre. It is a treasure trove of globular clusters and nebulae such as the enormous M22, the incredible Lagoon Nebula (M8) and the Trifid Nebula M20. The Galactic Centre is also found in this sign at 27 degrees. In both northern and southern hemispheres, Sagittarius is best seen at midnight in the midheaven when the Sun is in Gemini during May and June.

Many shifts are indicated as many around the world prepare for global meditations and consciousness raising gatherings as they usher in a “New Age” that comes with the 11-11-11 portal.

It is quite significant that Mars moves into  Virgo on this auspicious date of 11-11-11. Many 11-11-11  followers believe that this day denotes a time where human consciousness moves through a portal of sorts,  to a higher vibration, into a new zone or even into the Age of Aquarius. As tropical astrologers the Age of Aquarius is not due to start till  after 2350. However as global oneness, unity consciousness is rising and 2012 approaches, like the end of the Mayan step calendar that finished on 28th Oct 2011, this is yet another indicator of humanity’s movements to higher realms, another sign of the quickening and the shifts that we are experiencing in the world around us. Mars’ ingress into Virgo on this day together with a a full Moon highlight that the next 6 months will be highly charged and activated as a renewed spirit rises within all of us. As we have heard many times now, the Global Economy is anything but economic, economic disasters continue as  waste, greed, destruction of the natural environment continue as the wrong priorities seem to rule the global agenda. Although Mars, planet of action and energy, moves through Virgo every 2 years, it only  retrogrades in Virgo and also any other sign every 15 years. What was happening 15 years ago starting from Feb 1997 that may prepare you for the first half of 2012? With Mars entering Virgo, we will all be called to perfecting A System, The System, our Own System and it’s all about getting things working better! When Mars turns rx on the same day as the Year of the Dragon on 23rd Jan 2012 (till April 13th) we will all be “Re-directing the System” somehow. Mars will then only leave Virgo on 3rd July 2012. A Major player in the energies around us and how we direct them throughout the first half of 2012.

A chart set for UT time in London for the 11th of the 11th 2011, shows Pluto rising at 11-11 am, the time that is most commonly used as the synchronized moment for global meditations and prayers. With Pluto rising we see that this 11-11-11 portal, is yet another factor contributing strongly to the many shifts upon us. We now seek transformation on so many collective levels and as Pluto is a planet representative of the masses,  it reminds us that what we are going through is somehow natural, organic and rooted deeply in the process of human evolution, the evolution of collective consciousness. The fact that Mercury and Venus together in Sagittarius are both at 11 degrees  seems like an affirmation – to be clear and precise as we consider the future and what we want it to be like. “Careful what we wish for ” and what we attract into this world. Less fear, more love, no war, but peace.

Check your own local time to synchronize with this moment and play your role in recognizing the shifts we are experiencing, take part in directing our global future, being conscious of setting the new standards for the times ahead.

Mars is now in opposition to Neptune and as it enters Virgo it also conjuncts the royal star Regulus (also about to shift into Virgo) a sign for all to consider our true calling, our motivations and drive, what we shine for? Are they ego oriented, are they selfless or selfish? Remembering that a  good alchemical mix of all is required to survive well in this world. A time too when  those that lead  are in the spotlight, we question their true motivations and if they stand up to the challenges expected of them or not. Times they are a changing and Regulus moving into Virgo later this month 28th November, is another indicator of the many shifts upon us, where our global priorities lie and a strong symbol of becoming more tuned to the sacred earth, as well as setting new standards for those that we elect as the “Kings” and leaders on this Earth. As we move to higher vibrations and many of us can feel it,  remember  the saying
” before enlightenment, wash windows – after enlightenment, wash windows” – so much to do and it can’t be done overnight and promises of Ascension to heavenly realms, or sudden breakthroughs to a better world will require much more input and attention. We are all called to the service of the greater good and no doubt have been part of creating the mess we find ourselves in, so get the broom out, we’ve all got work to do.

On 23^rd 24^th October the Sun entered Scorpio and on the 26th UT  a New Moon is born in Scorpio opposite Jupiter. Firstly a New Moon in Scorpio brings opportunities like all New Moons to begin something, to start afresh and in Scorpio it may be more like make amends, forgive, forget, let go or move on or just plain – get stuck into it!

The opposition of the New Moon to Jupiter is a call to draw on what we believe in to get ourselves motivated. Jupiter calls for expanding our consciousness, moving beyond limits and beliefs, exploring unchartered waters, concepts and ideas and wanting and living the Truth. It’s a call to stand up for what you believe, got for what it is you truly want and seek. In Taurus, Jupiter seeks groundedness and belonging, but also a sense of security and knowing that he has got what it takes, money, skills, talent, the  right stuff to feel good in the world. Jupiter not one to doubt himself, but as he is retrograde, it is time to pay attention to what may be missing in your life in order to be truly fulfilled and be guided by your own truth, not someone else’s.  The Taurus – Scorpio polarity is strongly aligned to give – take, mine – yours, possess – let go, my-body- your-body, Taurus, grounding and Scorpio, transformative, quite a powerful and erotic mix. The New Moon chart shows- Mars  square Venus and Mercury the urge to say it how it is and act on it are strong. Saturn and Eris are also opposed. The New moon at 3 Scorpio is interestingly the degree of one of Venus’s current Star points. As Venus cycles around the Sun, within eight years she will make 5 retrograde conjunctions(Venus inbetween Sun and Earth) with the Sun and 5 Superior conjunctions with the Sun,(Venus on the other side of the Sun) creating the magical pentacle as she goes. One of these points is around 3 Scorpio,last year in Oct 2010 there was a retrograde of Venus at 5 Scorpio, and the next  Venus Sun conjunction at this point, will be a superior conjunction at 2 Scorpio in Oct 2014. This magical cycle is worth getting to know well. What was happening in your life  last October? Have a think, have you moved on, what’ s changed, are things better? Did you get what you wanted? In the outside world things are changing rapidly and we must all keep up somehow, by keeping on top of it,  slightly ahead of the wave is always safer than being dumped and tumbled. As the Sun travels through Libra once a year , once a year also we have a Full Moon in the opposite sign of Aries. The once a year Full Moon in Aries this time at 18 24 degrees not only opposes the Sun , but determined and responsible Saturn as well. Things won’t be feeling all that new, nor fresh, even though the Moon is in Aries and conjunct volatile Eris, but more restricted and contained, even though we may be bursting at the seams.

Aries energy is new, but opposed to old Saturn, nothing new can take place without having worked hard on something, rewards of freedom and life adventure come to those that somehow deserve it. Whatever progress we have been making, now stand the tests of will it last, does it have staying power and how determined you are to go ahead  with what you’ve been planning and see it through, because many difficulties and obstacles arise from those around us. Patience and diplomacy, are key as losing it will only make things worse and all the hard work, the angst and the anxiety will have been all for nothing.

With the nodes in aspect to the Moon, we are reminded that this is part of the journey forward. The farsighted Sagittarian energy harmonises with the Sun and trines the Moon , Fire and Air come together to ignite the way forward and keep us focused on the mission at hand.

Interestingly this is the first Full Moon occurring at 18 degrees, of which 5 more will occur in the next 5 months*.  Last year in October a series of 6 Full Moons at the 29th degree of  Aries, Taurus, Gemini,  Cancer and Leo dded to the feelings of uncertainty as we lived through the after effects of the volatile T-square of 2010, which brought up so many issues in regard to a world in flux and transition and how to cope with the changes upon us. Now that we sense these changes rapidly taking hold, perhaps the series of 18 degree Full Moons gives us  a sense that we are formulating a more determined outlook,  a more fixed idea forming about our world in transition and how much is ahead for us all, the long haul, the no going back now attitude, that this must be done.  A determined outlook clarifies where it is we are heading, with the middle degrees of signs being more stable and fixed in nature.

Venus now in Scorpio for the next month, the alluring evening star grows in brilliance and brightness night after night in the western sky. At this Full Moon Venus sextiles Pluto an is 150 degrees away from Uranus. We dare to be bold and unconventional. Scorpionic energy doesn’t let go of what it is it is after and Venus although attuned to be a fair player, also ultimately goes for what it is she wants. What  motivates us may  feel somewhat uncomfortable right now but a compelling drive to keep at it, to make  progress  whatever it takes to get us to the next stage is the flavour of the next month. Pick your flavour and stick to it.

Mercury trine to Neptune highlights that our considerations have a universal tinge to them, all that drives us now is somehow related to the bigger picture, the better picture, as we seek visions and make plans for a better and brighter future for us all.

Focus and determination for what it is we are after motivates and spurs us on, as the world around us becomes more like a scene in a Western movie, the front of new beginnings that we are all experiencing.

Libra is the sign of the balance, the only sign of the zodiac which is represented by an inanimate object.  It is the sign that is exactly halfway around the circle of the ecliptic, the point of mediation between the beginning and the end.  Being a cardinal sign, it is associated with initiation of change, and being an air sign, it is concerned with the abstract principles behind reality.  Being the dignity of Venus and the exaltation of Saturn, Libra represents the exacting standards to which the highest aesthetic must conform, the sweet harmony of mathematical and geometric perfection, the perfectly balanced judgment that corrects the unjust.  Hence it is in the sign of Libra that we the universal experiences of role-playing in relationships, argument and counter-argument, thesis and antithesis, forever aiming to achieve the optimum balance between parties.  When the Sun enters Libra, it is a good time to reflect on the social side of our lives – how we relate to those around us, whether partners, friends, enemies, employers, employees, parents, children.  It requires us to be proactive to maintain a sense of composure and balance in our dealings with people generally, we have to give as well as take; to be gallant, dignified and civil, and to be responsive in kind.  This means entering a game of sorts, but playing by the rules.

Both Venus and Saturn are also placed in Libra at the time of the equinox, which underlines the current significance of the theme of justice in the world at present.  When it comes to relationships between social partners, are the rules being followed, or are certain people above the law?  Is there one set of rules governing appropriate behaviour for one group which somehow doesn’t apply to another?  Is this fair?  How much respect does the law attract and how relevant are judicial institutions when it comes to the real issues at play in the wider world, issues like sovereignty, democratic process, corporate accountability and labour laws?

The Sun is opposite Uranus and square Pluto, underlining the Uranus-Pluto square which is getting closer to its first exact pass (which will be mid-2012).  The pressure is building to fever pitch, as the tensions build between the corporate and banking oligarchy and their ever more desperate grab for power and resources, and the anarchistic forces of individuals determined to stand up for the rights of human beings and to fight the totalitarian tendencies descending on the world.  As Uranus squares off on Pluto, the revolutionary insistence on human freedom clashes with the totalizing, dehumanizing and atomizing imperative which lies at the heart of systems of social control and mass conformity.  With the Sun in Libra, the light shines on the role that we each play in this stand-off – which side do we stand on, or do we continue to sit on the fence for the sake of staying out of the fray?

It may not be possible to stay on the sidelines much longer.  At the time of this equinox, there is a close conjunction of the Moon and Mars in early Leo, closely trine Uranus in early Aries.  This trine in fire signs represents the passion of fiery imagination, bold visions of the future and strongly expressed feelings of anger and demands for freedom.  Tempers run high as dramatic displays of frustration over the slow pace of change take centre stage.  What do you really feel?  Maybe you should just come out and say it – declare your intuitions and stand up for your views – just don’t lose your cool completely.  From grand gestures to theatrical shows to childish tantrums – the season that is upon us draws out the more expressive emotional displays. The Moon and Mars are also in quincunx (150º) to Pluto, highlighting the long-term deep-set pressures slowly building that have been festering away in our psyche and making people uncomfortable and mistrustful of the powers that be.

With Jupiter still in Taurus, but now retrograde, progress may seem slower or traction more difficult to achieve.  It may feel like success is harder to attain, or like positive developments are less frequent.  This is a time to review the plans for future expansion, to check if they accord with the practical reality of available resources.  Paring back unrealistic plans now may save a lot of wasted time and energy later.

Mercury is strong in its exaltation in Virgo, up and at it early as it now rises before the Sun.  It sextiles the Moon and Mars and opposes Ceres, the goddess of spring and the flourishing of organic life on earth. Mercury’s position tells of what will be most talked about in the coming 3 months, what we will hear the most about in the media, what will be circulating most frequently on the airwaves. Here we see that Mercury in Virgo is concerned with efficiency, health and economy. Mercury has always been associated with trade – as in merchants and commerce and as the banking troubles reverberate throughout the world, we can see ever more clearly the unhealthy contrast between poverty and waste, consumerist greed and the corruption that prohibits the effective delivery of services. The opposition to Ceres indicates a direct dialogue with Mother Earth, we are very conscious of her mighty natural powers with many earth changes and shifts predicted in the coming months as well as the closest approach to Earth of the comet “Elenin” at the end of September.

The sign of Virgo becomes important in another way over the next few months. Around November 2011 the fixed star Regulus moves from Leo into Virgo. Regulus, associated with prestige, power and glory, has been in tropical Leo for the last 2160 years – how appropriate for a world ruled by powerful elites and societies ruled by money and power. Now we have Regulus move into the sign of service, resourcefulness, technology, skill and duty, as we are becoming increasingly aware of waste, global resources, ecology and efficiency. Perhaps those who learn to adapt an attitude of service to the sacred, the planet earth, her precious resources and the healing of the planet will be the new heroes of the next 2160 years as Regulus makes its slow transit through Virgo.With Neptune opposite for the first few years of this shift of Regulus, we are not quite assured of what is to come next, nor what the new heroes will be like, or infact who they are yet.

So in summary this is a time to reflect on whether events in the world and in our lives are conforming to our sense of universal justice, and then to make a decision about where we stand in the various dilemmas that we face in everyday life.  This may seem like we have to take sides, but sometimes taking sides is the appropriate thing to do, so long as we pick the right side!  This requires the sort of consideration, fairness and poise naturally associated with Libra, even in the face of the fiery intensity and theatrics of passionately-expressed views.

This Libra Equinox, focus your intention on the role you play in the relationships in your life, and on how you can contribute to a greater sense of justice in the world through active engagement with opposing views, so that a clearer, more considered and fairer outcome can emerge.
